There's plenty of forbidden fruit that our friends abroad get to enjoy, but of all the vehicles we thought had a shot here in the States, the YES! 3.2 Roadster wasn't one of them. That's all going to change this February when Funke & Will AG will display the lightweight cabrio on the show floor in Chicago.
The YES! 3.2 Roadster comes in two flavors, both sporting a (you guessed it) 3.2-liter V6. The first is a naturally aspirated variant that produces 255 hp and can reach 60 in just under five seconds, while the other benefits from a turbocharger that huffs and puffs the same six to 355 hp and drops the sprint to 60 to 3.8 seconds. Owners can supposedly upgrade that same mill to produce 415 hp and propel the one-ton convertible up to a theoretical top speed of 200 mph.
Both cars can be outfitted with a variety of amenities, from heated seats to sat nav, and if all goes according to plan, a select group of dealers are being amassed to service the newest entrant into the sports car fray when it goes on sale in the U.S. and Canada later this year.
PRESS RELEASE
Coming to America! YES! 3.2 Roadster
GROSSENHAIN, Germany, January 28/PRNewswire/ -- The YES! Roadster 3.2 will be on display during the 100th Chicago Autoshow from February 6th to February 17th 2008. We are looking forward to welcoming on the exhibition stand SH34 in the South Hall.
The overwhelmingly positive response from media, customers, experts and business partners reflects the great interest of the public in the puristic lightweight and proves once again the successful implementation of this concept, true to the motto: PURE DRIVING PLEASURE.
Due to the equally positive feedback from America, Funke & Will AG has extended distribution of the YES! Roadster 3.2 to North America and Canada this year. For this purpose the company has founded YES! North America Inc.
The current model is equipped with a 3.2ltr V6 motor. With its 255 hp, the 890 kg two-seater can accelerate to 60 m/h in just 4.8 seconds and gives you the driving pleasure typical of the YES!. If that's not enough for you, set your sights on the YES! Roadster 3.2 Turbo. With this turbo version, Funke & Will advance into the realm of super sports cars. Thanks to an exhaust gas turbocharger, the same original aggregate yields 355 hp, catapulting the driver of the merely 930 kg roadster from 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 175mph. A specially developed rear spoiler ensures the necessary downforce to keep the 355 hp safely on the road. If more power is required there is an option for a 415bhp upgrade pushing the YES! Roadster 3.2 turbo almost to the majic 200mph barrier.
In either guise the YES! Roadster 3.2 and Turbo offers supreme handling with almost supercar performance in the 3.2 Turbo. With comfort levels that make the car and everyday option and a generous choice of optional extras from heated seats to high quality satnav.
A select group of dealers are to be anounced at the end of Febuary which will service North America from the east to the west coast with additional dealers appointed in Canada.

Wow, very impressive. Too bad it will be out of reach for anyone who isn't well to do (I assume the price will be quite hefty).

pretty cool in a different sort of way.
uses an audi v6, i'm guessing?
zamafir @ Jan 28th 2008 2:13PM
Yes, it's based off the TT and started as a design students project then later became an actual low volume car.
nagmashot @ Jan 28th 2008 2:55PM
@zamafir
it is not based on a TT ... they only use Audi engines..
The Yes is build on a aluminium chassie developt from the founder.
PowerDubs @ Jan 28th 2008 1:49PM
That is great.. the engine (VW) has a lot of potential.. I have the same engine in my golf making over 300hp/tq normally aspirated.

I like R32's, but 70hp and 70lb-ft from those basic mods? At least I would expect the 3.2 to be making a lot more hp than torque...But if it's true, then props to you.
Also, that makes me want an '07 350Z with some cams and 93-tuning to see how close it gets to 350hp :P
MikeJ @ Jan 28th 2008 8:51PM
Sorry, don't buy it. Have you heard the 3.2 Quattro A3, sounds just like the R32. Guess we'll have to wait for some engine shots.
PowerDubs @ Jan 29th 2008 8:17AM
The R32 was under rated from the factory on purpose as 240hp when it really had 250 same as the TT. It has great TQ becuase of the variable intake manifold nad variable intake and exhaust cam timing. As for the engine, it is most definately the 3.2 VR6.. look at the dash pictures.. that is an R32 cluster! You can see the silver R32 badge at the bottom.
PowerDubs @ Jan 29th 2008 8:47AM
Of course the A3 3.2 sounds the same... same engine as the R32 just like the Audi TT, Phaeton, Porsche Cheyenne, Toureg, EOS...
Alex @ Jan 28th 2008 1:50PM
YES! i want one.
NO! I probably won't be able to afford one.
MikeJ @ Jan 28th 2008 1:53PM
I think it is the Audi 3.2 V6 (which is rated at 255hp), not the 3.2 VR6 that is being used.
PowerDubs @ Jan 28th 2008 2:17PM
I was unable to find a picture of the engine, but here is a video- sounds like a VR to me. I would also lean towards the VR based upon size constraints.

Also both of the following sites mention VR6-

1 ton? Holy crap! I want. Please say it'll come in a manual.
993C4S @ Jan 28th 2008 2:08PM
Looks like the Porsche boxters and the BMW Z get some serious competition. If those numbers are correct, that's one quick car. Anyone have any idea how much they cost?

I thought they were already being imported here. I saw one at road atlanta a year ago.
