As long as there's a 6-cylinder under the hood, there's no way it's getting under 3,000 pounds at its current sub-$30,000 price-point.
Also, how many sub-$30k RWD coupes can you think of that weight less than the Z (3,320 lbs), let alone ones with 300+ horsepower.
The weight is fine, and there's always after-market to lighten things up on your own, be it with carbon fiber panels, lighter wheels, seats, etc.
