Size matters when it comes to pickup logos

Some crowds are worried about speed, some about interior volume, some about the number of cupholders. The pickup truck crowd has a tendency to be concerned with size, so the automakers give them what they want. And in this case, it's bigger and bigger logos. Kicking Tires took the real estate measurements of the logos on half-ton pickups at the Detroit Auto Show (and a Hummer, just for good... measure), and ranked them from smallest to the most grandiose. The logo on the new Dodge Ram is 250% larger than before, and it only came in fifth. Click the link to find out who's got the biggest, and let the bragging begin.

9"?!? Now, where does a guy find a Mercedes logo big enough to rebadge that???

Your friendly Freightliner center can hook that up.

Pretty soon it'll be right back to stamping the name/logo right into the sheet metal of the tail gate, stretching all the way across it.

And why not? For literally generations, light trucks stamped the brand in big letters across the tailgate. It's a truck thing. Bring it back.
why not the LS2/LS7? 10:33PM (1/24/2008)
Agreed. Do it.

I agree too! I think half the problem is identifiable logos to begin with! Think the small letters of "F O R D" across the front of a hood, on the edge of the front. Looks better than a big blue oval! And stamp for the backs of trucks and little letters for the backs of cars or even just a Ford chrome signature (no blue oval) ! I think that losing the logo for about 7 years would be cool!

Agree. Bring it back! Chevy and Dodge can too.
Derek 5:18PM (1/25/2008)
But, if they do that, how will people be able to re-arrange the letters???

Must be like belt buckles.
The bigger and gaudier the better.

Why not just imprint a giant phallus, and save themselves the trouble.

OH man, LMAO....
Now let the idiotic redneck dick-waving contest begin. Sad.

Lol, I was about to post something exactly like this.
Things like this certainly don't help what everyone thinks about guys who "need" to buy such large vehicles just to get around...
Owain Ozymandias Buck 9:12PM (1/24/2008)
Uh, should we start putting "TruckBallz' up front too? Or is that too much like them being on the chin?
But seriously, why do ovals and bowties and Montana pin-up gir--uh I mean, sheeps heads have to be so friggin' huge?
I thought things were about the right size around 1999-2000. Just my two cents.
Harrison 9:41PM (1/24/2008)
It seems that penis size and logo size have an inverse relationship... :D
Bonus points if you know what I mean.

@harrison
Seen the grille of the Merc C-Class? :)

Cant it be that people just like having a large badge or like driving a large / loud / fast vehicle? Why does it always have to be about penis size?
It's so sick that people cant enjoy driving a loud muscle car or a lifted truck without others making stupid generalizations about penis size.
I think there's more wrong with the people making the penis comments than those enjoying their vehicles. get a life.

Some people take themselves waaaaaaaaay too seriously. You need to get laid.
M 3:25PM (1/25/2008)
How do you guys know if your wang is large or small anyways? I haven't seen many of them in real life, so I wouldn't know if mine is large or small. I've never heard any complaints. Maybe it could have shrunk a little when I paid for the first pickup I have owned, but I don't care!
You guys have now creeped me out. I wouldn't want to be around any of you in real life, because I'm afraid you may stare down my pants!
cameron42985 8:29PM (1/24/2008)
Ford's is the best-looking. Sorry.
Looks like Jon agrees, too.
