Some crowds are worried about speed, some about interior volume, some about the number of cupholders. The pickup truck crowd has a tendency to be concerned with size, so the automakers give them what they want. And in this case, it's bigger and bigger logos. Kicking Tires took the real estate measurements of the logos on half-ton pickups at the Detroit Auto Show (and a Hummer, just for good... measure), and ranked them from smallest to the most grandiose. The logo on the new Dodge Ram is 250% larger than before, and it only came in fifth. Click the link to find out who's got the biggest, and let the bragging begin.

      Must be like belt buckles.

The bigger and gaudier the better.

I think dodge should start using a life-size chrome ram head on the front.

Pretty soon it'll be right back to stamping the name/logo right into the sheet metal of the tail gate, stretching all the way across it.

I agree too! I think half the problem is identifiable logos to begin with! Think the small letters of "F O R D" across the front of a hood, on the edge of the front. Looks better than a big blue oval! And stamp for the backs of trucks and little letters for the backs of cars or even just a Ford chrome signature (no blue oval) ! I think that losing the logo for about 7 years would be cool!

And why not? For literally generations, light trucks stamped the brand in big letters across the tailgate. It's a truck thing. Bring it back.
Agree. Bring it back! Chevy and Dodge can too.
        Agreed. Do it.
But, if they do that, how will people be able to re-arrange the letters???

      Logo envy?

I think that increasing the size of the logo is a safety feature.

In the future when I am driving behind somebody in a KIA doing less than the speed limit in the fast lane, I won't have to follow quite so close in order for him to see nothing but Ford logo in his rear view mirror.

the sizes are getting nuts, every truck that comes out is more bulky than the last one. I think new trucks from all brands look stupid when there is a foot and a half from the 30+ inch tire to the fender.
      Agreed. Do it.

Is not just Ford with the huge badges. The Cadillac emblem along with the Mercedes badge are about as large as a trash can lid! Look at the "TITAN" name on the door of the Nissan. It takes up almost a third of the door!

I know the Ford badge on the back of the F-150 sticks out a ton but it also houses the reverse camera. Most reverse cameras on SUV's and cars are tucked under the license plate recession. You can't do that on a truck because of the hitch plate so I don't know where else you could put it and have work well.

Can we get rid of the jackass above me? ^^^^
      • 7 Years Ago
9"?!? Now, where does a guy find a Mercedes logo big enough to rebadge that???
Your friendly Freightliner center can hook that up.

I believe the "Truck Nuts" thread from a few days ago is nearing 300 posts
        • 7 Years Ago
Wow! What does that say of us as a community when the post with the most comments is about a low scrotum?

Oh crap--I posted a TruckNutz referring reply above. Last comment on that. I swear. ;)

      Ford's is the best-looking. Sorry.

      Looks like Jon agrees, too.

Have you seen the rear emblem? Embarrassing.
