Want to get in on the action of the 2008 presidential race? How about owning a candidate's ride? Up for auction on eBay is a 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible, previously owned by former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani. The classic American drop-top has its original aqua paint job with matching interior and contrasting white convertible top. Although listed "as is", the Corvair is claimed to be in proper working condition with all the original equipment.

Giuliani bought the car from Cooper Classic Cars in New York and sold it back to the dealership with 73,650 miles on the odometer in 1996, back when he still had his comb-over, which might explain why he gave it up. (Either that or the ordeal of owning a classic convertible in Manhattan.) The car has been in storage ever since, and at the time of writing has eleven bids standing at just $3,550 with nine days to go before the digital hammer drops. We don't know about you, but we'd probably take the Corvair over the Clinton's hybrid Mercury Mariner.

I owned one of those (mine was midnight blue) in my college daze. Most reliable car I ever owned if you overlook the puddles of oil I leaked everywhere I parked.

You can use this car to drive rudy to the big house when he finally goes to jail on corruption charges. I wouldn't give you a rotten dime for that piece of junk.

For some reason, this posting reminds me of the Seinfeld episode about Jon Voight's Chrysler Le Baron.

Actually surprised that Rudy was a fan of Corvairs! He could have afforded much better. Out of that era, I had a friend with a '67 421 GTO convertible. I had one of the older model Corvairs stuck in the sand at Daytona Beach when I was in HS. They were pretty slow for the most part and handled poorly! I'll take my 21 year old Porsche any day - in every way!

Gee.the guy runs for president and suddenly he's public enemy #1.
I can tell you,as can any greater New York area citizen, that His governance was responsible for bringing back NYC.First economically and morally from prior mismanagment and then from the attacks of 9/11.
New York was a cesspool before He took over.I for one as a New Yorker am grateful for his public service.
I don't believe in denigrating people just because they're running for office.Give credit where credit's due.Show you have some class.

Much of that credit goes to former NYPD Commissioner Bratton whom Rudy ran out of town when he started getting more press than “his honor”.

Rudy is a complete sham. His platform is entirely about his purportedly terrorism expertise (he, btw, went ahead with putting NYC’s Emergency Response Center at the WTC, even tho aides and real terrorism experts pointed out that it was a bad idea, considering that the WTC was a prime terrorism target that had already been hit).

His response to EVERYTHING is 9/11.

And Rudy had little to do w/ the city’s economic revival – and in his 2nd term he put the city’s budget into the red.

As for morality, Rudy has little – both in his private and professional life.

Furthermore, he has crappy taste w/ regard to paint jobs on his autos.

I guess this rules out a Giuliani/Nader ticket.

Lame I know but I figured what the hell?
