Presidential eBay Find of the Day: Rudy Giuliani's '66 Chevy Corvair convertible

Want to get in on the action of the 2008 presidential race? How about owning a candidate's ride? Up for auction on eBay is a 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible, previously owned by former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani. The classic American drop-top has its original aqua paint job with matching interior and contrasting white convertible top. Although listed "as is", the Corvair is claimed to be in proper working condition with all the original equipment.
Giuliani bought the car from Cooper Classic Cars in New York and sold it back to the dealership with 73,650 miles on the odometer in 1996, back when he still had his comb-over, which might explain why he gave it up. (Either that or the ordeal of owning a classic convertible in Manhattan.) The car has been in storage ever since, and at the time of writing has eleven bids standing at just $3,550 with nine days to go before the digital hammer drops. We don't know about you, but we'd probably take the Corvair over the Clinton's hybrid Mercury Mariner.

I'd take it except for the color. not a fan of the aqua and it looks to be in good condition so I wouldnt want to destroy it by changing paint and upholstery scheme from factory.

I was thinking the same thing.
Too ugly to keep stock.
Too clean/original to customize with a clean conscience.

What's so "Presidential" about it?
Rudy "Freedom Means Submitting to Authority" Giuliani isn't going to be president, because he is grossly unqualified for the job of leader of the free world, as his awful polling results everywhere demonstrate...

I guess this rules out a Giuliani/Nader ticket.
Lame I know but I figured what the hell?

For some reason, this posting reminds me of the Seinfeld episode about Jon Voight's Chrysler Le Baron.

Is this the car he drove while he and his cousin were first dating?

Maybe. He also probably charged the cost to a bunch of small-budget city agencies and covered everything up as well.

Rudy Giuliani is as far from presidential as candidates get. Julie Annie is hardly even gubernatorial, much less presidential.

I thought for sure he'd have a Porsche 911.

I owned one of those (mine was midnight blue) in my college daze. Most reliable car I ever owned if you overlook the puddles of oil I leaked everywhere I parked.

Gee.the guy runs for president and suddenly he's public enemy #1.
I can tell you,as can any greater New York area citizen, that His governance was responsible for bringing back NYC.First economically and morally from prior mismanagment and then from the attacks of 9/11.
New York was a cesspool before He took over.I for one as a New Yorker am grateful for his public service.
I don't believe in denigrating people just because they're running for office.Give credit where credit's due.Show you have some class.
