New York '08 Preview: Scion concept cometh

The Scion Fuse Concept debuted at the 2007 New York Auto Show.
Scion will be keeping with the tradition it established last year in the Big Apple by bringing another concept to the New York Auto Show this March. The NY unveiling is another attempt by Scion to define itself as the quintessential automaker for hip urbanites, despite the xB practically being the official vehicle of the AARP. According to Inside Line, Toyota doesn't plan on showing anything at the Chicago Auto Show in early February, so we expect the Lexus, Scion and Toyota stands to be quiet. Details on the Scion concept bound for New York are scarce, but something in the form of a tC replacement is a distinct possibility.

Price that blocky object under 20 grand and all the ooh-look-at-me-I-think-I'm-cool wannabes will be lining up outside the local stealership.
Well, at least it looks better than the xB, which is usually mistaken for an abandoned refrigerator when parked.

Let me guess, anyone who doesn't agree with your tastes in cars is a "ooh-look-at-me-I-think-I'm-cool wannabe"?
It looks sporty to me.

Neh. That's beautiful and people will indeed line up to snatch them all up.
I would buy one. That's damn hot, functional, economical, and practical.
There's a reason why Toyota is #1 in the world.
Toyota is laughing again with this Scion.
Way to go Toyota.

Yup, you're right - anyone who buys a car with loads of standard options, pure pricing, Toyota quality, and a great culture all have image problems.
Ever looked in the mirror lately if you're so threatened by people who buy sub-$20k Toyotas?

Great, just what a stoned teenager, talking on the phone while at the same time watching The Fast and The Furious on the in dash monitor, needs - GIANT blind spots.

Great! Exacly what a stoned idiot snifing glue has; an opinion with zero knowledge of the product.

@MKIV Your avatar is sooo distracting

Whatever they bring, hopefully it will abandon the ridiculously unpractical c-pillar. They lost me as a customer with the recent xB and xD designs.

Hey, they forgot to design the front.

Any design that polarizes folks is a good one. I like it.

zamafir: It's not polarizing if everyone thinks it's ugly :P

But will it be RWD??

Hah, right!
It will be a soulless bland and flavorless drive like all Scion products. All of the character is in bolted-on body work.

The Fuse debuted at the 2006 NYIAS... not the 2007 show. 2007 showed the xD and the new xB.

If that is a Intercooler and if it had RWD, I would buy it today!

This Scion should've been Tony Stark's ride in the upcoming Iron Man movie...the headlights(eyes) and mouth look is a dead-on "Iron Man" giveaway...
