Here's a way to create content long after an auto show has ended, dream up a list of editorial favorite picks. Well, what the hell, we might as well be meta and report on the anti-news. Here we go blithely.
AutoWeek handed out its Editors' Choice awards for the North American International Auto Show at its Design Forum on Wednesday. We can debate the relevance, but we'd rather just talk about the cars. The four vehicles that AutoWeek thought were the bee's knees are as follows:
As
Linda Richman would say: discuss.

Ford F-150?? AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH LOL
Solo Racer @ Jan 18th 2008 5:11PM
Most Significant?! How about the BMW 335d, a diesel sedan for all 50 states?
Mauricio @ Jan 18th 2008 5:26PM
What is your problem with the F-150? ... don't you have money to buy it?
Snutz @ Jan 18th 2008 6:07PM
The F-150 is the most significant because the future of Ford depends on it. If it doesn't sell well, they're screwed, considering at the moment it is the best selling vehicle in the US. Whereas the 335d, though it is an awesome car, probably won't sell in large numbers considering Americans hate diesels.
As for the concept vehicle, not sure what their criteria was there. If the concept had to have a chance at making production the CTS Coupe would be it. Otherwise the Furai is definitely more stunning.
The One @ Jan 18th 2008 5:21PM
Best concept the Caddy?!?!
You know it's an American award when....
Best "concept" of the show hands down is the Mazda Furai!!
Todd @ Jan 18th 2008 5:33PM
Wow the Mazda Furai got snubbed. I thought it was much better than the Cadillac.
fbxcore @ Jan 18th 2008 5:39PM
The caddy for best concept? Is autoweek snorting crack when they make these decisions? *cough* FURAI *cough*
Tom @ Jan 18th 2008 6:00PM
Ford 150? All the appeal of a housebrick!
2004m3driver @ Jan 18th 2008 6:17PM
Please stop mentioning the Furai. That thing is so goddamn breathtaking I have trouble no thinking about it. Check out the this gallery of it here http://www.supercars.net/Gallery?cmd=viewCarGallery&carID=3993&pgID=1
It is so damn stunning, just like at that carbon fiber weave
2004m3driver @ Jan 18th 2008 6:19PM
err please excuse my lack of coherency, too busy drooling over those rims
Brent @ Jan 18th 2008 6:32PM
Snutz,
Did you see the Dodge Ram? Chrysler is in far worse condition than Ford. The new Ram is leapfrogging the current generation, not upgrading. No leaf springs either!
MemphisNET @ Jan 18th 2008 6:33PM
I would have thought the new RAM would have beat out the F150 - both are equally important or Ford/Dodge.
Nellydesign @ Jan 22nd 2008 9:24AM
Too bad Chryslerberus only deigned to show us ONE Ram on the show floor, and that one not even decked with all the features they were touting. That just baffled me. You couldn't even get close to it! Big mistake. Ford's interactive presentation probably went a long way to giving them the award over the Dodge.
HotRodzNKustoms @ Jan 18th 2008 9:16PM
I have to agree. Though I like the Furai more all it is basically is a fancy body on a 1991 Le Mans car that has no hopes of seeing production in any way shape or form. Ford is just not in a position to let Mazda develop and build a low volume supercar.
SRTargets @ Jan 19th 2008 12:48AM
Why not. If ford did the GT40 then why not Mazda? Honda, Lexes and nissan are all making super cars.
A rotary super car anyone.
GM786 @ Jan 19th 2008 2:47AM
I know why the Ford F-150 won the award for being the most significant! Because it has a cluttered, clunky, and plastic cinder block interior. LOL! The exterior looks just as bad in my opinon. The new F-150's exterior looks flat out boring and ugly.
Tina @ Jan 19th 2008 8:26AM
Thank you Dan for writing bees knees, I haven't heard that one for a long time.
Elmer @ Jan 21st 2008 4:13PM
stop hating on it.
AL @ Jan 31st 2008 12:29PM
The Furai, are youe people for real, is this the car for a new batman movie. that thing screams ugly.
joekawasaki2000 @ Mar 3rd 2008 2:50PM
Autoweek is a mag for the unimaginative. The R8 Is the only possible award winner in the bunch!
