2008 Detroit: What's happened so far...
We know a lot of you were hanging around in front of the television yesterday, watching a couple of football games, enjoying assorted alcoholic beverages and doing the things for which Sundays were invented. We, however, were running around Cobo Hall in Detroit, amped up on all manner of stimulants (caffeine and B-vitamins, thank you very much) to report on all the happenings at the 2008 North American International Auto Show. Here's a list of what's been revealed so far in D-town, so click away. What else are you going to do on a Monday, work? Also stay tuned for today's happenings that will begin with Lincoln's press conference at 8:30 AM EST.Audi R8 V12 TDI - Gallery

The show certainly is going well, it would be better if they would move it to a warmer month.
There are a number of interesting hybrids this year

Not unhappy with the showing, but I am kinda over it...nothing that I feel like I will get my hands on and nothing (besides the Hummer and Mazda) that gets my blood flowing...I guess cause I have seen all the cars already due to spy photos and broken embargos. Blogs are funny like that...you wanna know everything before it happens but then when it does happen it is old news...
Personally, shows kinda piss me off too because they show you how well they can make a product and then deliver something watered down crap....i know the reasons why, but the public may get behind an "innovative" product if made well
anyways, the show coverage is good - nice work

I would agree, the coverage is great but there's nothing here that will impact my car-related life very much. Where's the small domestic sedan with the hybrid drivetrain? The new platform that will finally allow GM to compete in the small car segment? The Hybrid Vibe? The $400 sync like system from someone other than Ford? The Sync system in something desireable by Ford?
New pickups, V12 Audis and Lamborghinis are cool and all but at the end of the day there's just no impact.
I agree about car shows in general too - They're the epitome of over-promise and under-deliver.
