Spy Shots: 2010 Ford Mustang GT caught again

Spy photographers may have lost a money-maker when Bob Lutz decreed that all Camaro prototypes must be stripped of their camouflage, but don't worry about these optical argonauts just yet because Ford is still trying to keep a lid on its refreshed 2010 Ford Mustang. Apparently, however, the automaker isn't doing that well a job, as Brenda Priddy & Co. has snapped new shots of a heavily camouflaged blue Mustang GT prototype on city streets. As we reported earlier, the 2010 Mustang GT will get front and rear fascias to help it compete with the upcoming Camaro and Dodge Challenger. We have a close up of the Mustang's new nose now in which the new headlights and some of the grille and lower air intakes are visible. Despite Ford's best attempt to keep the new Mustang a secret, we have little doubt that spy photographers will catch it sans camo sometime soon.

Damn the Twin-Force / Eco-Boost (sounds like a GNC suppliment) nonsense, the Cobra had better come with a V8.

if Hyundai can come out with a 4.6L V8 cranking out 368HP the update better include an engine refresh with the 3.5L making 300HP and the 4.6L making something like 380HP

The news, like I've said numerous times before, is that there will be a standard V6 version with the 3.5/3.7L naturally aspirated, putting out near 300 HP. There might be an upgraded V6 version with the Twin-Force/Ecoboost 3.7L, putting out 350+. The GT will get the new Boss line of V8 motors, as the Mod V8 is going to be gone for the Mustang line (and probably for good, for that matter), which will likely START at 400 HP. Special editions like a Mach 1 or Boss will likely split the difference between the new GT and the GT500.
Also, the rumor is that the GT is going up to a 5.0L displacement, with a possible OPTIONAL 5.8L.

How would Ford get 380hp from their engine?
They only have a solitary camshaft per head.
They only have variable camshaft timing, not variable valve timing.

The Mod V8 can be either SOHC or DOHC, can have cast iron or aluminum blocks, with aluminum or iron cylinder heads. There are a lot of possible combinations that can be had, and the Mod can be made to put out 380 HP N/A, though the 4.6L has never made that much power in production form. The 5.4L version of the Mod in the 2000 Cobra R put 385 HP/Tq out, and the 4.6L version which was in the 2003-04 Cobra (Terminator), which was supercharged easily cranks out over 400 HP at the wheels.
Like I said, though, the Mod isn't going to be used in the facelifted Mustang; the Boss will be, though.

I've loved it since the concept came out and I still love it. To me it is a timeless design

Just make the styling like the '69-'70 Mustang - it was perfection.
Matt 2:09PM (1/10/2008)
Extremely. They have horrible interiors, are mediocre cars, and look terrible. There is nothing original about the Mustang...just copies of what Ford did 30 years ago.

Nope i am not tired of Mustangs. They are as American as Apple pie. Most people like Mustangs, get over it.
