click above for more spy shots of the 2010 Ford Mustang GT

Spy photographers may have lost a money-maker when Bob Lutz decreed that all Camaro prototypes must be stripped of their camouflage, but don't worry about these optical argonauts just yet because Ford is still trying to keep a lid on its refreshed 2010 Ford Mustang. Apparently, however, the automaker isn't doing that well a job, as Brenda Priddy & Co. has snapped new shots of a heavily camouflaged blue Mustang GT prototype on city streets. As we reported earlier, the 2010 Mustang GT will get front and rear fascias to help it compete with the upcoming Camaro and Dodge Challenger. We have a close up of the Mustang's new nose now in which the new headlights and some of the grille and lower air intakes are visible. Despite Ford's best attempt to keep the new Mustang a secret, we have little doubt that spy photographers will catch it sans camo sometime soon.

Looks the same. Is anyone else tired of Mustangs, like I am?

if Hyundai can come out with a 4.6L V8 cranking out 368HP the update better include an engine refresh with the 3.5L making 300HP and the 4.6L making something like 380HP
        • 7 Years Ago
The Mod V8 can be either SOHC or DOHC, can have cast iron or aluminum blocks, with aluminum or iron cylinder heads. There are a lot of possible combinations that can be had, and the Mod can be made to put out 380 HP N/A, though the 4.6L has never made that much power in production form. The 5.4L version of the Mod in the 2000 Cobra R put 385 HP/Tq out, and the 4.6L version which was in the 2003-04 Cobra (Terminator), which was supercharged easily cranks out over 400 HP at the wheels.

Like I said, though, the Mod isn't going to be used in the facelifted Mustang; the Boss will be, though.

How would Ford get 380hp from their engine?
They only have a solitary camshaft per head.
They only have variable camshaft timing, not variable valve timing.

The only way Ford knows how to make big power...forced induction.

mike dont talk about stuff you clearly know nothing about

The news, like I've said numerous times before, is that there will be a standard V6 version with the 3.5/3.7L naturally aspirated, putting out near 300 HP. There might be an upgraded V6 version with the Twin-Force/Ecoboost 3.7L, putting out 350+. The GT will get the new Boss line of V8 motors, as the Mod V8 is going to be gone for the Mustang line (and probably for good, for that matter), which will likely START at 400 HP. Special editions like a Mach 1 or Boss will likely split the difference between the new GT and the GT500.

Also, the rumor is that the GT is going up to a 5.0L displacement, with a possible OPTIONAL 5.8L.

      Wow...what a stunningly stupid vehicle.
Ford has nothing to offer that is worthwhile today...so they have to go back 40 years to offer an outdated, overhyped POS?

As I said, a stunningly stupid car...but you petrol-head idiots can keep on pissing away our natural resources while our young folks and innocent civilians keep dying for you. Just so you can burn some rubber from light to light....Darwinism at its best.

I agree with your first part...but the second part, you must have had a seizure or something.

Maybe you should change your name to Al Gore...or become Amish.
Seizure? Are you even emailing from this planet? You don't see what's going on around us? Is it so bad to actually want cleaner air, cleaner cars, less pollution? A healthier life?

I don't get it....why are people in this country so afraid of such things? It's as if breathing better is violating their rights...God forbid of course we do that.

        Wow...what a stunningly stupid post...

Can't wait to see it without camo.
lol, so its stupid because it is called a mustang? a name with some history and brand recognition

so the corolla, 911, corvette and mini are all stupid cars then too!

or is it because it only gets 25 mpg on regular? stfu stupid hippy. no one give a crap what your ignorant ass thinks
        • 7 Years Ago
        Haha...naggs...you're a real douche...

If you think can get 25MPG out of a corvette, then Darwinism is going strong...you really are an idiot.

Damn the Twin-Force / Eco-Boost (sounds like a GNC suppliment) nonsense, the Cobra had better come with a V8.
Just in time for four dollar a gallon gas...

The Mustange will once again win the Muscle Cars wars and in another ten years the Camero and Challenger will be shelved again.

Cougar Cougar Cougar! wait wait wait...gas is going up again. Mustang II Mustang II Mustang II! =D i want a new King Cobra!
I think a retro look of a '69 cougar would look sweet on the mustang chassis. Mustang II, well, I'll pass. The whole disco landau roof thing scares me! Maybe a car like the early '70's Capri would be cool.
FoMoCo should produce a retro Cougar positioned to compete against the G35 and IS350/500 and BMW 3 Series. Use Mustang platform and make it nice enough to go up against the best in this up scale class.

A new Cougar with the right attributes (i.e. 3.5 TwinForce, great interior etc.) would be a big time winner.

Hey! I know that intersection. The building in the background behind the wall is where Ford crash tests vehicles (proving grounds are behind that wall also).

I can't wait to see this thing without Camo...
I think this Mustang is going to look better than the current version as it should. However, I do not think a nose job is going to be enough to compete directly with the new Camaro or the Challenger. If there are new motors with more power that will help but I think the Mustang is going to have to be the lower priced car of the three to be a good option.

      Minor evolution. No revolution here.
I think the Mustang's next REvolution won't be with this car, but rather with the MY2014 Mustang...

The Mustang's 50th birthday is coming!!
