VIDEO: truTV breaks into an exotic car dealership
Don't worry, it's not what it sounds like. No laws were broken in the making of this video. Symbolic Motors in La Jolla, CA wanted to test out its security systems and hired the "Tiger Team" to see if they could break into their showroom full of exotic cars. truTV watched on with video cameras in hand to see if they could do it undetected. Despite what seemed like fairly fortified defenses full of alarms, trigger systems, and dozens of security cameras, the team broke into the dealership and drove off in a Lotus Elise without being caught. Symbolic Motors runs some very very recent "vintage" F1 cars at the local vintage races. Of course the meaning of Vintage was really challenged when some of the local racers started showing up with P1 cars that ran the 24 Hours of Le Mans just months before.
Also I think Symbolic was one of the first dealers in the U.S. to get their hands on a new Bugatti.

Anyone notice that the guy misidentifies the car that picks him up from the hotel as a Murcielago instead of a Gallardo? Funny that they can break into the dealership but can't even recognize the cars they're supposed to steal...

Their business has nothing to do with cars. They also stole the Lotus because that was near the door and was the one the guy test drove.

I was going to mention something about it too! Its such an unconventional color for lambo. Its pretty refreshing to see, althought im not that crazy about it. Id perfer the yellow/orange one behind it.

I didn't see anything in that video that a few friends and I couldn't do.
And that business with the computer tech and the external hard drive was just plain dumb. They could replace that guy with a 16 year old and a laptop. He'd probably work for minimum wage too...

Two things I have to say; Wouldn't the alarm company have noticed the alarm was shut off at a strange time & called the police? Or at least called the dealer to get the clearance password?
I would NEVER buy such a car from somebody wearing jeans & a T-shirt.

My first thought when he was turning it off was the same thing. Or that he should at least have them call him if it happens again.

Most alarm companies can't tell when a alarm is turned off. Most alarm systems in the US operate through a phone line, and the unit only notifies the central station when the alarm is triggered. So if someone turns the alarm off, the central station wouldn't know. There are exceptions, but once again, most aren't that way.
On the other hand, some systems (Like the one I have in my apt.) store what the time date and what passcode (if you have multiple ones) was used to disable the alarm in some sort of memory. This info can be accessed at a later time through a tech who works for the company coming out to your home or business and downloading it from the unit.

MK yes - most alarm systems in businesses have opening and closing times and initiate a call to the call list.

I'd take the Elise, too. Lambo's styling is super-bland nowdays. The reBenton is the only exception.

"Professional" means to do your job to the best of your ability.
Clothes have nothing to do with the job. Therefore, caring one whit about the salesman's clothes is highly unprofessional, and since professionalism is synonomous with ethics, highly unethical.

jgp, that is a very idealistic attitude. I know what you're saying, but try this:
if you're not married then if you do get married definitely be sure to wear jeans and a t-shirt at your wedding because all that matters is that you love one another, right?
