Rendered speculation: Alfa Romeo 169
With the Alfa Junior hatch gearing up for production, the 8C Competizione being delivered to customers and the 159, Brera and Spider gorgeous-ing up roads around the world, the next item on Alfa Romeo's plate is the 169, its upcoming flagship sedan.
Although the 169, spy shots of which we brought you back in February '07, could be based on a modified Maserati platform or potentially on one borrowed from Jaguar, it's slated to return to rear-wheel-drive either way, which puts it in a better position to take on Europe's very best sports sedans.
The image above, of course, is just a rendering, but draws on existing and anticipated brand styling cues. We hope the actual production version will be more sexy and, well, more Italian than this illustration, and we also hope it'll make it across the pond with its stablemates.

I see a little F430 and Quattrope in there. Looks pretty good.

The information and illustration is exciting. The only thing that looks out of place on the illustration is the rendering of the headlights. The headlights look too small and too far apart compared to the rest of the front end rendering. Other than this, it looks awesome.

I am not sure these more vertically aligned headlights are the right direction for Alfa design. The new 169 should stay as close as possible to Alfa Visconti concept design.

They don't look to shabby on the 8C.

Sure it looks cool, but Alfas regularly score worst in reliability studies and their build quality can't keep up with German or Japanese premium offerings.
Glad though to hear they're getting back to RWD. Some of their models (particularly the GTA's) suffered from horrible torque steer.

The front facia is awfully busy, but proper production bumpers thrown into the design should calm that down. Overall, it's a really exciting design. I hope Alfa comes to N. America so that the other makers can see what true automotive beauty can look like.

Not gonna' happen like this. Unless...Alfa hired Zapatinas back after they de-neutered of the B9 Tribeca over at Fuji Heavy.

I pray it doesn't look like this rendering. Looks like the photoshoper used a Camaro concept photo and grafted a single "fang" on the facia. This looks too GMish. Looks horrible.
