Pony down! Man pushes his Mustang off a mountain and reports it stolen
We can't figure out what was going on in the mind of Richard Way Jr. as his Ford Mustang careened down a mountain. The Claysburg, PA man is suspected of pushing his pony down an embankment and then reporting it stolen. A cousin of Way told police he saw him removing stereo equipment from the car and had been asked to help in the scheme. So much for trusting family. Way has since been arraigned on charges of filing false police reports as well as theft and insurance fraud. And by the way, no Mustangs were injured in the reporting of this story; the above pic is fake in case you couldn't tell.

Why does this remind of of an episode of The Simpsons?
I'd shove a mustang off a mountain too. Heh.

Absolutely. Toyotas is advocating insurance fraud. Now you're seeing it for real. Morons.

Holy crap! Judging by the (clearly not photoshoppped) picture, the mustang is as bigger than those trees! I need that mod!

yeah, people can be dumb, but what is the typical motivation? Do they just not want to make car payments anymore? Crash the car, and get reimbursed and buy a cheaper or something?

I'm an agent. These same idiots run right back to the same agency and try to do the same thing all over again.

Claysburg, PA is home to one of my favorite local ski slopes. He should have just put skis on it and had a little fun. There's a double black diamond run that would have been perfect.

Ha, I used to go to Blue Knob all the time - you wouldnt need skis there, its all ice anyway.

And the insurance company doesn't actually care!
Seriously: if you're the insurance company, an occasional car going off a cliff is just another payout for you. You'd rather there be more payouts than fewer, and they you just raise rates to cover it.
The fact is, the insurance companies have no incentive to police this sort of thing. They'd rather have the money passing through their hands.

That makes absolutely no sense...why would they WANT someone to push their car off a cliff? They lose the cash for the value of the car and in all likelyhood the person who trashed his car will cancel his policy immediately...

If I owned a mustang, i'd probably push it off a cliff too.

So THAT'S how you make a Mustang go fast! (sorry)

There is no problem getting mustangs to go fast, hell I've gotten my V6 to 115...it's more of a matter of going fast and still being able to turn, haha

I see you've never driven a Cobra.

My 99 Honda Accord V6 goes past 115...I'd hope that Mustang can do better.
