Leaked: facelift for Mercedes CLS
We've been seeing camouflaged test mules of an updated Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class sedans driving around for some time now, but the German automaker apparently can't keep it under wraps anymore. On Saturday the online motoring press worldwide lit up with two pictures of the facelifted "four-door coupe", reportedly leaked by someone inside Mercedes ahead of its intended debut.
The pictures show an updated top-of-the-line CLS 63 AMG. What we can tell from the images is that the newest AMG rocket gets a new grille split in three sections instead of four; upgraded wheels from 18 to 19 inches, with a style similar to those on the Porsche 911 Turbo; led tail-lights; a carbon fiber rear spoiler; a new rear diffuser; and updated exhaust outlets.
Whether any mechanical changes have been made has yet to be revealed, but we'll be sure to keep you posted. A shot of the rear is included after the jump.

I may be the only person in the world who thinks the CLS is overrated and this has done nothing to change my mind. It's not a coupe - its a compromised 4 door sedan and the outline still looks like it was inspired by a mid 90s Taurus.

I agree. And unlike the guy below, I know how to use the reply button. I didn't see any updates in the pictures until I read the description. I still don't SEE any change from the current model, but it's all good. And it's certainly striking for a mercedes, no doubt about that, but for the whole car world? It's not that spectacular, in my opinion.

It looks like the front and rear has been sat on by a pair of elephants. Bad proportions.

I'll be the 3rd to agree. I think the styling is hideous and both the E and S class look much better. Many better choices in that range.

I have been saying that the CLS was ugly from it's inception, and that a "4-door coupe" is a blatant oxymoron.
The facelift gone wrong headlights, the bloated arching belt line, and the squashed rear end are all bad. And the facelift doesn't do anything to fix them.
I doubt I would buy a mercedes, but if that were my only choice, I would pick an AMG E-class over a CLS any day of the week, and twice on sunday.

That looks really cool. The wheels are much nicer. I hope they include nicer looking wheels on the cls550s with the amg sport package. The 19s that it comes with now look kinda cheesy.

The front end of the CLS is its least attractive feature.
This facelift hasn't really made this otherwise terrific vehicle more iconic, which is what it really needs to take it to the next level.

I think the CLS is beautiful, but I don't think there is much they could do for a "facelift" that wouldn't jeopardize the overall look of the car.

Still looks like a big, ugly fish. This car is almost as ugly as the Benz Hawkmobile.
I know that styling is personal and all, but usually I can see the appeal in most designs...but not this one.

Don't you see that this is the AMG version of the CLS? The MB - CLS Klasse with the future facelift will look different. I dare to say that theese are the pictures of the curent CLS from AMG!
