Top Gear drives Germany's three small super saloons... well, in the M3's case, it's a coupe, but you get the picture The cars go against each other, as well as Emerson Fittipaldi's Lotus F1 racer that won the 1972 World Championship, and has the same horsepower as the sedans. There's also the Stig, a Stig-ette in a white bikini and helmet, Clarkson dining on an apple run over at the apex of a turn, a measurement device that we can't mention here, and lots of unkind things said of M3 drivers. But it's just in time for Christmas, and it's in three parts, which means you can make Top Gear Christmas cheer can last all day. Especially if you have a new M3 on order.

The Cockometer.....thats awesome
Stuart @ Dec 25th 2007 3:04AM
Just buy yourself a Mercedes CLK Black series. Its probably the best car of all three even when they're probably put together.
Tele @ Dec 24th 2007 6:34PM
I suggest anyone interested just grab a torrent of the show, it was one of the best of this season (and this season was particularly good).
Clarkson's my hero.

Forgot to add: finalgear.com in case anyone didn't know.

I really wish they kept going all season. I can assume that a GT-R will be on the show, either in just a regular test, or a race to Moscow with James and Richard running in wooden clogs. Either way, season 11 is going to be crazy. Oh yeah, and they prob will have the Evo X and the STI.
Cam @ Dec 24th 2007 7:01PM
Must admint, Clarkson is right over the M3 driver, in the UK in any case.
They have too much money, can't drive it properly and will ALWAYS tailgate people to make them move out of the way
Not a bad car though
Brendan @ Dec 24th 2007 7:34PM
Most M3 drivers are wankers here in the states too, whether they're a doctor who just wanted something expensive or a teen whose parents footed the bill.
Franz @ Dec 24th 2007 7:06PM
I watched this yesterday. Brilliant viewing you guys. You should all try to see it.
Chase @ Dec 24th 2007 7:34PM
nearly 20 years for the M3 and nothing has EVER changed... and it doesn't look like it will ever change. There is the M3 and everyone else with a gimmick.
T @ Dec 24th 2007 7:42PM
Super great cars for sure, but I think I would be happier in a srt8, vette or cts-v.
viper3ez @ Dec 24th 2007 8:03PM
i drive a 2005 magnum rt. its a nice car and the srt8 trims are even nicer. but looking at the build quality inside most american cars(including the overhyped plasticmade malibu), i'll pick german anyday
Andrew @ Dec 24th 2007 10:37PM
Yeah, there's no comparing the SRT-8 or the CTS-V to the M3. The M3 out-runs, out-handles, out-performs, most importantly, out-classes both of those cars. The Vette might be on par performance wise, but I'd take the more subtle penis car over the hillbilly penis car any day.
Eriq @ Dec 24th 2007 11:29PM
If all you care about is straight line speed and nothing else then the corvette would do you well. I personally prefer the whole package. No offense.
Andrew @ Dec 24th 2007 11:57PM
In all fairness, Erig, I'm a BMW driver and will still admit the Corvette can take corners. It'd be interesting to see how the Corvette and new M3 stack up against eachother on a track.
As for Top Gear's test track: The 'Vette ran a 1.26.8 around the track while the old M3 ran a 1.31.8. Obviously the old M3 was a smaller displacement inline 6, and we're comparing a 2 seater with a mid-size coupe, but still, quite the difference.
Either way, agreed, I'd take the M3 over the 'Vette any day.
nagmashot @ Dec 25th 2007 11:14AM
@Andrew
BMW always performe realy bad at topgear. TopGear is the only magazine which tested a Audi S4 (B6) faster as a E46 M3.
To be fair compare the e46 M3 to the C5 not the C6... the e46 M3 was on the way to went out of production as the C6 hit the market. The e46 was in production from 1999-2006... the C5 from 1997-2004 and C6 started in 2005.
The C5 Z06 was from 2001 the E46 M3 CSL from 2003...
if you compare a Corvette to a M3 take models of the same production time..
The C5 did not stand a chanche vs the e46 M3 on the race track...
Andrew @ Dec 25th 2007 10:41PM
Nagma: I'm trying to be unbiased, as I have owned several BMWs. It'd be unfair to say "The M3 outperforms the 'Vette" when I can't prove that it's true. Either way, of course, I'd pick the M3 over the 'Vette any day, I'm just trying to be nice to the poor 'Vette.
naggs @ Dec 31st 2007 7:16PM
lmao
c5 vettes ruin e46 m3s
c5 zo6 is on par with CSL
'08 z51 vette is deff faster than e90 m3. that is not going to be particularly close
its not fair to compare saloon GTs and ground up 2 seat sports cars espically when the sports car has the better engine, handling and weighs hundreds of pounds less
m3 is the best at what it is
bullitt @ Dec 24th 2007 8:06PM
Love this freakin' show! Better than the crap on SPEED...
Paul H. @ Dec 24th 2007 8:43PM
Top Gear is my favorite show, bar none. Even if American television was moderately entertaining these days, it would still be heads above the rest. Can't wait for season 11!
The Joker @ Dec 24th 2007 8:52PM
LOL, you gotta love the Stig's girlfriend in the bikini :)
