Our reaction to the official press shot of the Corvette ZR1 was a little guarded. The bright blue car that accompanied the lifting of the embargo left us thinking a bit more about Hot Import Nights than we were comfortable with. 0-60 Magazine recently had a photo shoot with another ZR1, and this one dressed nice. All the tungsten instruments around 0-60's ZR1 really play up the surface detailing of the C6 Corvette, and the handsome metallic gray hue made this particular ZR1 a stealth bomber. There's the minor detail of that polycarbonate skylight in the hood, and the humongous brake package peeking from behind equally huge rims is far more striking in person than pictures will ever convey, too. So, even in a subdued color, the ZR1 still manages to announce to the world that it's packing something special. There's nothing of any consequence in the video, it's a few walkarounds of one of the hottest cars extant. It's a nice holiday treat, so stop feasting on goodies for a couple minutes and hit the jump for some eye candy instead.

The only detail on the ZR-1 that I'm not sold on the the unique 'hood window'. I realize that it's an effort to recall shaker hoods, and maybe go toe to toe with visible-engined cars like the F-430, Murcielago or Carrera GT, but I'd much rather not have a window in a front engined car.

The Corvette is one of the better looking American muscle cars-if not the best. But viewing the clip I have to say that it actually is begining to look dated.

I absolutely hate how this car looks in the ridiculous cobalt blue Chevy has chosen. Having said that, it looks much, much, much better in the slate grey. But, WTF is up with those orange-ish leather inserts in the interior? Really strange looking.

Agreed. I think it looks like a JC Whitney catalogue threw up on it, and the blue color isn't helping. I don't care how fast it is; the car is UGLY.

Geez, buddy, this car is not "pretty" enough for you? The ZR-1 is about PERFORMANCE.

Agreed, sounds like crap. I wonder what the exhaust valve configuration was during recording.

Who picked the music? Elton John?

I'll agree with all of you the sound is a disappointment. I was hoping it would sound more like God shouting.

But as for the styling well, I love how the hood has hole for the engine. To many of these new cars have alot of plastic and engine covers.

Also the rear scoops for the brakes in the back have two big scoops instead of just one.

And another thing, did anyone else notice the skull on the intake box that was 29 seconds in?

Looks like the Bad Boy Vettes symbol, same thing the final C6R's of the season were covered in. Too cool!

Hey everyone, I apologize for the sound. It was shot with a cheap dvd-cam (left the HD home, oops), plus the compression didn't help it at all. But I can assure you, in person, it sounds something fierce (God doesn't talk to me, so I didn't recognize the voice, but you may be right on that, Calvin). Also from what I've been told, GM is still tuning this beast.

Next week we will upload the clip so it can be downloaded to avoid the youtube compression.

      Happy Holidays...

Whew! That's a relief. I hope I get to see/hear it in person somewhere eventually. Thanks for posting up, Brian.

Ditch the hood window. I noticed the Skull as well.

This car is fast, there is no doubt in that statement. Mayhaps, the GM engineers could have spent some time making it sound... uhh... cool/good/fast? I've driven mini vans that sound more racy.

Very cool car, but the sound in that video makes it sound like a UPS truck. I hope is sounds better than that!

Haven't noticed it on other posts, but I'm using XP with IE7 and this specific post is overlapping as well on my PC.
