Rhys Millen and Red Bull want to perform a backflip with a truck

New Year's Eve at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada Rhys Millen, with the help of Red Bull, will attempt the first ever (purposely performed) backflip of an off-road racing truck. The stunt is part of ESPN's No Limits broadcast immediately following the Chick-fil-A Bowl. It is scheduled to begin airing live at 11:15 pm EST on December 31st. That is of course, pending the clash of the tigers doesn't go into overtime. The experiment is no far stretch for Mr. Millen as he has performed many movie stunts behind the wheel, along with claiming Pike's Peak and Formula D titles. If the stunt doesn't go as planned Rhys has no one to blame but himself since his crew took on the responsibility of designing and building the launch ramp.

Rhys may want to get some technical advice from this guy -

Oh my word! Funniest part is when he actually puts on a helmet. I was expecting some sort of safety-ballcap. People never want to believe how durable trackers/sidekickers are.

Autoblog needs to do a story on that!!

Evel's dead...long live Evel.
Why does everyone go to Vegas to pull a stunt like this?

Darwin was right, that's why Rhys Millen is THE MAN. Good luck, drift king Rhys.

Its not he is really doing anything. Engineers will design the ramp to a correct degree to launch the truck and another group of engineers will determine how fast he should be going. All he has to do get, press the pedal and keep it straight.
Sure it crazy and daring but I really don't find it that impressive.

because the Casinos pay big $ for shows like this

Tagg, like all stunts it's impressive b/c someone has to balls to do it. I'm sure there's a fair amount of skill involved with the driver as well - he does need to nail it pretty precisely to induce rotation once the front wheels go off (use your knowledge of physics to see) so hats off for Rhys for being both brave and skillful enough to do this

It will be pretty cool and very original.

I think it'd be cooler if Travis Patrana did this... he mastered the double backflip on the bike, why not in the rally car (or in this case, the off-road truck)? =)

Because Rhys has his father's company and engineering background to help make this happen, while Pastrana just relies on his balls.

Rhys should be safe in the cockpit, surrounded by an impenetrable boundary of smugness.

Millen has big cajones to do this one. But after his stunts in the WRX I'm not surprised
