click above image for 11 new pics of the 2009 Subaru ForesterWe now have 22 unofficial images of the 2009 Subaru Forester in
this gallery, which could be more pics than what Subaru plans to officially release on December 25th when the new CUV actually debuts. We found these on the
Forester Owners Forum, page 104 of a long thread relating to 2009 Forester news and rumors. We don't know who took them or where they were taken and we don't want to know - we just want to look at them, as they are the clearest and largest images yet that have crossed our desks. The batch also includes a view of the
new Forester's interior, which, well, isn't all that interesting or groundbreaking, kind of like the exterior. It may suit your needs just fine, though.

I wish it would end.

mcheddadi @ Dec 17th 2007 3:49PM
the sebring forester hahaha
TriShield @ Dec 17th 2007 3:51PM
That's one fugly wagon, and it has two mirrors on the passenger side?
ehisforadam @ Dec 17th 2007 4:02PM
It's Japanese visibility laws. Most large vehicles like SUVs have big blind spots, the fender mirrors take care of that.
Cornholio @ Dec 17th 2007 3:53PM
What the hell happened to Subaru's design department?? The carp mouth grill was one thing, but this latest work takes the ugly stick to the whole car.....
The old ones were ugly in a cool sort of way. These are just ugly.
Austin @ Dec 17th 2007 3:57PM
Is it just me or does it look like a smaller highlander.IMO, Not a good thing.
Owain Ozymandias Buck @ Dec 17th 2007 4:06PM
Looks a lot bigger. Not necessarily a good thing. What's with the fake dual exhaust? That y-pipe looks terrible. Why not just save weight and run a single. It's probably better than that horrible Y.
mk @ Dec 17th 2007 4:22PM
Because 2 mufflers quiet the exhaust with less backpressure than one.
My Legacy has an upgraded version of this... it is not bad, and subarus are already lighter weight than most of their competition, so saving weight isn't that big of a deal for less NVH, without robbing loads of power, especially from a 4-cylinder vehicle.
I'd rather have two mufflers and a Y-pipe with a central catalyst, than having two catalysts, as well. (although my Legacy had three, all in a line. One before the turbo, and two after.)
Alex Nunez @ Dec 17th 2007 4:08PM
Chrysler from the front, Suzuki XL7 from the direct rear low angle. I kinda preferred it when Subarus looked like Subarus, and not a mash-up of other stuff.
mk @ Dec 17th 2007 4:08PM
The design isn't inspiring me, but I do have one question...
exactly what is the difference between this and a 4-cylinder Outback wagon, other than looking slightly more boring?
Shame that the Legacy wagon was canned, and this is seen fit for market, when it is actually quite redundant to the Outback, which is just a raised Legacy wagon (at some point Legacy became the also-ran to the Outback, where the Outback was once a Legacy option package.)
Rob @ Dec 17th 2007 7:49PM
Outback = Legacy based
Forester = Impreza based
Of course the new Impreza is Legacy based too... but still considered compact instead of midsized.
Brent @ Dec 17th 2007 4:17PM
Maybe they are doing this on purpose for free marketing?
SherbornSean @ Dec 17th 2007 4:36PM
I would agree with you, except that the continual parade of pictures of this vehicles is actually turning more customers off than on.
PeakVT @ Dec 17th 2007 4:24PM
"It never ends."
What, the uglyfication of the entire Subaru lineup? It will when the next Legacy/Outback debuts.
Subaru has taken a machine gun to it's feet.
Guenther @ Dec 17th 2007 4:27PM
That rear seat looks like poop, except poop would be more comfortable to sit in. I hope the Legacy/Outback don't turn out this odd looking when they get redesigned next year.
Brad @ Dec 17th 2007 4:37PM
Aren't you guys starting to feel a tad manipulated?
This reminds of the release of the original Zune, when Microsoft released a series of "leaks" to get free "viral" marketing.
I know this is a blog, and you want to put out as much as possible, but maybe it's time to just wait until the real pics come? Certainly this can't be the first time "news" item you've passed on.
Wally @ Dec 17th 2007 4:46PM
December 25th huh? Merry Christmas from Subaru. Gee thanks Subaru, how 'bout just a giftcard next year instead of the automotive equivalent of a groin kick.
Lantern42 @ Dec 17th 2007 4:48PM
Whats with the bright red plastic on the interior? Is this one of those RED branded products like the iPod nano or the GAP sells?
Me Too @ Dec 17th 2007 4:56PM
Ugly from the outside, even worth from the inside.
I am surprised that Subaru doesn't want to have any designers on its payroll. Saab managed to create a nice-looking (at least from the outside) Impresa (9-2) just with a few tweaks.
And that shapeless cheap interior. Looks like heavily used and never washed 10-year-old Ford Escort.
