Next month at the New Delhi Motor Show, Suzuki will unveil the A-Star concept, which foretell's the automakers next global compact car. Why India? Well, local interests, of course. The production version of the car, likely the new Alto according to World Car Fans, will be built in India at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant beginning in October 2008. It will be sold globally (read: Europe, India and other non-US markets), and Suzuki plans to keep the vehicle's price low. Technical details are sparse, but reports state that the production version will be powered by a 1.0L Euro 5 emissions compliant engine. If you can read Japanese, you can check out Suzuki's official announcement here.

I agree! It is mean looking! Even from the rear, it looks mean. I love the narrow tail lights and check out the 'S' badge combined with the rear-center brake light. That is genius!

Agree about the pi$$ed off Pokemon look. Side-view isn't too bad either. Make it a turbo'd multi-variable-valve 1.0liter (good for, oh, 130 hp) and that would be a kick! (But only with a manual gearbox!) And unlikely to show in the US ('cuz "we" don't like/buy small cars...)

Manufacturers aren't getting the hint that silver is getting tragically old.

cars look good in silver, why change? It's more interesting than white and shows off lines better than black.

Exciting design -- proves cheap doesn't have to mean ugly.
Why is it Americans get ugly 7-seater SUVs when these are available? I guess we get what we deserve.

Nice looking car. However it will be toned down some for production, but that and the fact that this car is smaller than a Mini by a bit wouldn't deter me or quite a few others from buying. Bring it Suzuki!
