If you care about playing old ps/ps2 games on the ps3, then you may consider getting a 60gb ps3 before they are extinct. new 80gb ps3 will not have backwards compatibility, from what i've read.

Actually james the 80gb has PARTIAL B/C to PS2 games and near full B/C to PS1 games whereas the 40GB has no B/C for PS2 games and the same PS1 games as the 80GB.
The 60GB has full PS2 and PS1.

You're both wrong.
The 60 GB has 99% BC for PS2, 100% for PS1
The 80 GB has 85% BC for PS2, 100% for PS1
The 40 GB has 0% BC for PS2, 100% for PS1
The 20 GB has 99% BC for PS2, 100% for PS1
