Saleen creates limited edition Patriot Mustang
Saleen is saluting our troops with the introduction of a limited edition Patriot Mustang. Yes, another Mustang variant, but this one celebrates military servicemen and women if that makes any difference to you. A total of 24 will be built - eight each in red, white, and blue. Each one includes Saleen's supercharger, which boosts horsepower up to 465 and torque to 425 lb-ft, as well as an upgraded suspension, 20-inch wheels and tires, and a body kit with a new front and rear fascia and side skirts. Inside, the Patriot gets reupholstered leather seats, new gauges, short throw shifter, and more while pricing is set at $51,295. For active military personnel, Saleen is also offering a $500 cash incentive, as well as one free day at its performance driving school. A short press release and a comprehensive list of specs and features can be seen after the jump.

For some reason when I looked at the pic I thought it was a New England Patriot edition Mustang.

yeah, that doesn't look flag bue, it looks NE Pats blue.
I'd like to see that $$ would be donated to widows relief or something similar, so that it didnt look like he was making money off of patriotism.
nice looking ride though

A limited edition Mustang? What a novel idea...

Using patriotism to sell cars? Ain't that original. And when is Chrysler suing for the Patriot name? Or Chevy for stealing their patriotism idea?

since when can you sue for ideas?

Actually I need to correct myself, it looks more like Iceland's flag.

Wow only 24 vehicles... They are pretty cool looking without making the patriotism too blatant. It is a clean look

Capitalizing off of the death and destruction of brave men and women in the Middle East and elsewhere. Interesting...

A little extreme isn't it? Is a war really necessary for us to be patriotic?
James 2:56PM (12/10/2007)
No-one capitalizes on patriotism like our proud American corporations ;)
Mondo 2:57PM (12/10/2007)
Maybe a war is necessary. Without a clear war, we tend to forget that people are still dying daily.
Flags are patriotic. Financially and emotionally supporting those fighting and dying is patriotic.
This, this is a marketing ploy.

When I saw this, the first thing I thought of was Chevy with their whole 'An American Revolution' thing.
tankd0g 2:57PM (12/10/2007)
Well at least it's not made in Korea or Austrailia.....

I think the Mustang is, however, made in Mexico.
That One Person 7:25PM (12/10/2007)
No, wormguy, it's made in Flat Rock, Michigan. DUH!
I am surprised there ain't more "What is Ford doing?" comments....
Funny how people attack Saleen (and surprisingly not Ford) for doing this (which I think is lame...how many everyday military personnel can afford this?) but never attack other companies that do similar things?
Me Too 3:15PM (12/10/2007)
$50 grand for a Mustang? For that much money it should come with Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld in the back, Mr. President in the passenger seat and Osama + Saddam in the trunk.

The Saddam part can be arranged ...
