Spy Shots: New Ford Ka spotted in Sao Paulo

The new Ford Ka is set to be unveiled next week in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but spy photogs there have already caught the new model motoring around with the current Ka. As you can see from the pic above, the Ka, at least for the Brazilian market, is ditching its current design for something a bit more mainstream. Whereas the current car is eclectic and full of round shapes and curvy lines, the new one is much more traditional with large headlamps and conventional fender flares at each corner. Unfortunately, we think the current Ka is infinitely cooler than this three-door hatch with its unique design. Though even if this car does debut in Sao Paulo next week, we may yet see a different design for the rest of Europe. This may be, however, the quickest way to get yourself into a Fiat 500, as Ford and the Italian automaker are reportedly sharing platforms for both vehicles.

"for the rest of Europe"! Did you know that Brezil is not yet in the EU?

This is the new Ka to Brazil. Europe will have a different one.
It will be sold in 2 and 4 doors models.

Ford Ka and Hyundai i30 are very similar.

John Neff: you're really confused with this one.
The Ka we see on the pic is based on the previous Ka undepinnings, and it's built in Brasil (South-America) with zero relation with the Fiat 500. (Check the doors: they are still the same of the previous Ka.)
The European Ka is a completely different and unrelated car.

Looks remarkably like a VW Golf/Rabbit to me.

Whatever it is, it isn't pretty. Not nearly as cool as the currrent Ka, wherever it resides.

The current Ka is much more interesting. This looks like Mazda3 meets Aveo meets Suzuki Aerio.

Fortunately, we won't have this in Mexico. Respectfully to our bretherns in Brazil, they "design" the most horrible cars down there.

That front end isn't straight out of the '90s or anything...

This HAS to be the South America only model. The Euro Ka will look a lot better. This might even be their next Fiesta/Verve as it looks a big big to be a Ka.
The car in these photos has Fiesta alloys which suggests it is based on the current Fiesta not the New Fiat 500.

THIS is a new car? It kind of puts me in mind of the old Festiva/Aspire in that Mazda did a lot of the design work, Kia actually built it, and Ford USA sold it. In other words: it looks like a not too fresh design built in a country one step away from the 3rd world. This car also looks like it desperately needs a second set of doors as it has a long wheelbase, but the doors themselves aren't so long, making getting into the backseat a real feat of gymnastics.
Like a previous poster said: looks very similar to (any) small Hyundai.

I seriously doubt this is the shape of the new Ka for the European market, if only because Ford wouldn't launch that at a show in Brazil.
The European new Ka will indeed roll off the same production line in Tychy, Poland, as the Fiat 500. The two models do share major parts such as the floorpan, but they will be quite different in many other respects. Buying one will not give you the experience of the other.

design-shmezign. Smack a 3-bar grill on it and bring the Fiesta here already. B-segment will only get bigger.

Wow, give Ford a sweet Mazda2 as inspiration and look at the boring crap they come up with.

ka系列算是毁了,新ka也太没个性了,无论是相对老ka更甚至于国产小车!!!
