Dodge offering a Journey to kick off a couple's journey!

While Chrysler typically puts on a big song and dance for their auto show press conferences, at next February's Chicago shindig they are giving someone else a chance to be the star. As a promotion for the new Dodge Journey crossover they are looking for a couple willing to get hitched on the show floor at McCormick Place on Valentines day. Couples that are interested tying the knot at an auto show can enter Chrysler's essay contest at the the special web site that's been set up. Before the happy couple gets to drive off into the sunset in their new Dodge Journey they'll be forced to stay stay for the all-expenses paid reception featuring a Journey cover-band -- something none of us could ask our significant others.

Well considering the marriage and divorce of Daimler and Chrysler I thought such a theme would perhaps bring up painful memories.

I saw some of these Journeys at Chrysler's Proving Grounds. They are probably the best-proportioned most nicely designed crossovers I've seen. It uses the bold angular Dodge styling but keeps it classy and clean somehow. As Steve Perry said, "Don't stop believing."
Too bad you have to get married to win the trip.

Looks too much like a Freestyle/Tauras X (upright, angular and boring). The CX-9 and GM trio of CUV's look better, as does the Veracruz.

Just like the average marriage these days (And Chryslers own divorce) It will be fun for the first 4-5years and then they'll trade in for the newest model :P
Seriously tho, I think this one looks great. Great overall styling that isn't too truckish. The interior LOOKS fantastic, but, until I can see it at the autoshow I'll hold judgement.

Just sent the link to the Girlfriend, considering she wouldn't let the baby's middle name be 'Danger,' I doubt this would be acceptable... Wonder what the rules are about keeping the car etc etc... Would be a helluva 10-99 to pay at the end of the year...

Hilarious...

Kind of sad that they have to stipulate things like that. But I can see why. A wedding I went to a lady was dancing in a short dress with no underwear and quite often her private bits were in full view.

this just merely looks more or less like the Dodge equivalent of the Chrysler Pacifica.

It doesn't look anything like the Pacifica, nor does it even share the same platform.
Mercury Fan Forever 12:16PM (12/06/2007)
I would much rather Chrysler keep the Pacifica then to produce this.

>>> Aside from the Valentine's Day promotion, I like the new Dodge Journey, and suspect it will do quite well in the marketplace upon it's launch.
I give it a thumbs up!

Will Journey be significantly cheaper than Ford Edge? If so, not a bad choice... If you REALLY like Chrysler.

Why get the marriage started of on the wrong foot? Will the marriage fall apart as the Dodge does?

This thing is nothing like an Edge. An Edge seats 5 while this seats 7. This thing will be a great car, with a bad powertrain. The 3.5 is a P.O.S. It needs the 4.0L instead. I don't understand why the old 3.5 from the 300M made 350hp, while this makes 235hp. They need to squeeze some more hp out of it, because this car will be heavy. If
Nissan can get 270hp out of the 3.5 VQ, then dodge can at least get 250 like they used to.

I don't think the 3.5 in the 300 made 350hp. If it did, it would have been one of the most powerful NA V-6's on the market.
