The giant online travel website Orbitz has signed a deal with Avis Budget Group (the company behind the two popular Avis and Budget car rental agencies) that allow you to rent hybrids from Orbitz's websites. The websites include Orbitz.com, Cheaptickets.com and Orbitzforbusiness.com and you can rent hybrids from most Avis and Budget locations in the U.S. and Canada. The hybrids includes Toyota Prius, the full-size Nissan Altima and the Ford Escape hybrid, which will be released this month.

      Orbitz site reads:

"Rent an environmentally friendly vehicle on Orbitz for your next trip to Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, or Washington."

FYI, you have an unclosed link/anchor tag which is spilling over into the comments and into other posts.

Thanks Lascelles -- that's great news.

Putting fleets of hybrids on the road should also increase the number of used hybrids for sale in the coming year.

Doog Hardly, The PR is a little different ("most locations") so I assume they might expand or it's different on other sites. Or maybe a trial? Anyway, very cool news.
