VIDEO: Acura NSX gets whacked with a shovel
Despite it being a blatant advertisement, we couldn't help but show you this video of a guy hitting an Acura NSX with a shovel at full swing. Three times. The amazing part? It doesn't leave a mark because of a product called "DoorPal", which somehow protects the aluminum-bodied NSX from any harm. The company's web site doesn't list exactly what the DoorPal is made from, but it looks like a heavy duty version of those floaty toys you lay on while sipping a drink at the pool. We're not about to see if one of those works just as well, but you're welcome to try. Check out the NSX narrowly escaping a beat-down after the jump.

Does he think we're stupid? It's a big flat shovel, which distributes the load evenly and keeps it from hitting the car. The EDGE of a door is completely different.

I agree with strongbadinator. Try hitting with the shovel blade's edge. Also try installing the doorpal on the door rather than let it swing freely.

Yes, I'm sure he does think you're stupid. Well, not you personally, but consumers in general. But then that's because they are for the most part. That's been proven repeatedly.

This one time, I pounded a guy into the ground like a stake with a shovel.

Ok. Your wish is my command. DoorPal still stands up to abuse, and I assure any old pool float or air mattress won't.

In addition, DoorPal is only 4.5" thick. An air mattress is an avg. of 12". Hang one air mattress from the ceiling, and two on the wall and you just chewed up 3 feet from your already cramped garage. DoorPal is thin, strong and does not take up much room. I can do a baseball bat demo no problem, DoorPal will still protect.

Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and agree with the comment already there... That guy is hitting with the flat part of the shovel. Hell stick a newspaper there and you can get the same effect as that door protector thing. Take a baseball bat at full swing, and see the difference.
That guy in the video looks like a loser anyways, so you cant expect much.

i think if you parked in a lot with that goofy thing on your car someone would key it just for spite...
not to mention where do you keep it? do you blow it up every time you use it?
back to the drawing board for you.

I think the idea of it is to hang it in your garage as shown to protect your car from your wife dinging your car with her car door.

my wife respects cars like me, so its not an issue, but i guess if your wifey or hubby is untrained, it may be useful. But in that case I would just tell her ill beat her if she dings my car...problem solved lol.
If i let her park in the garage to begin with ;o)

@3000GT Twin Turbo
Yeah then you just need to invest in the shovel ;)

You guys are missing the 2nd part of the video, when he starts throwing beach balls at 30 mph.

Wow, you need Prozac. Either you are 9 years old or were abused by your father. I think EVERY one of your posts is negative. Try smile for once, treat others with respect and grow up.

It does what it's supposed to...but you can save whatever they're asking for and hang your pool float and get the same results...oh and @3000gt twin turbo...get help...

Saturn had the right idea. Couple that with employing sliding doors for all cars and problem solved.

WTF?? Are you supposed to hang these panels off all sides of the car? Plywood would be cheaper.

Totally off topic, but you Autobloggers come up with the weirdest tags for your articles.
NSXshovel? Do people really shop for NSX and shovels together?
