2007 AB Gift Guide: VRX Mach 4
There are racing simulators, and then there's VRX Industries simulators. Their VRX Mach 4 is the Bugatti Veyron of sims. It takes four Xbox 360s to run the Mach 4's three 37" high-def LCD screens and 7" LCD rear view mirror. Realistic sound is provided by a Bose Acoustimass system with a Harmon Kardon surround sound receiver. A Sparco Monza racing seat holds you tight as the 1500 watt tactile feedback system and 1900 watt tactile power amp simulate ever bump and crash. And if all that isn't enough to make you feel like a racecar driver, there's even a virtual wind system, people. With all that realism, you're gonna work up a thirst, and you're taken care of there, too, with, a "beverage containment system." Not even Mr. Räikkönen gets one of those.VRX Mach 4 Racing Simulator - $24,995

My god, this kind of setup and they use an xbox360 with a horrible wheel? The wheel is only 180 degrees lock to lock and the pedals feel like $15 specials.
Should have done it with a PS2/3, GT4 (or HD when it comes out...) and the Logitech G25. The G25 is a proper wheel combo, unless you go into pro-sumer and over the $1k mark.

Does it strike anybody else as bizarre that instead of buying this, I could buy a real car and go tear up some real asphalt? Don't get me wrong, I'm about as fanatical of a racing gamer as they come, but let's keep things in perspective here!

A racing simulator is not a simulator without some Gs thrown into the mix. The Force Dynamics 301 can generate 3/4 of G sustained, and up to 2Gs in bursts! It does this by tilting the driver to simulate acceleration, braking, and lateral G. This is in addition to the simulation of the road surface as in the vrx mach 4.
$35,000 is the purchase price.

Unfortunately if you see their link there are no distributers in the US.
However, Full Motion Racing is currently having sale on them for Christmas for $15,000 or Best Offer, ready for local deliver in San Diego. And they are already posted on Ebay. It's a bargain for a full simulator! Remember the story on toyota's giant simulator? Well, this can achieve those results for much cheaper and using much less space!

Look at the realism in the driver's perspective!
