Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! Lewis Hamilton vs the Stig

Some say that he shaves with a chainsaw, and that he can climb the Eiffel Tower using just his lips. All we know is, he's called The Stig, and on this Sunday's episode of Top Gear he'll be racing F1 rookie sensation Lewis Hamilton on the Top Gear test track. Hamilton, fresh off his second-place finish in the 2007 F1 series, sits down with Jeremy Clarkson for some witty English banter before heading out to a soggy Top Gear test track to do battle with the Stig in his tool of speed: a Suzuki Liana, otherwise known as the Aerio in our part of the world. Hamilton needs to beat the Stig's top time of 1:44.40 seconds, but it sounds like the weather and some errant oil spilled from Clarkson's VXR8 earlier in the day may spoil his plans. If you can watch current episodes of Top Gear on BBW Two, well, we hate you. The rest of us will be waiting for the episode to hit Final Gear, or perhaps putting it out of our minds until next year when they replay it in the U.S.

This is going to be bigger than the trans-continental races in Veyrons, 612 Scags and SLRs!

I thought the Liana was retired a couple Series ago (series 8?) and the new car was a Chevy Lacetti?
Fact-check?

My bad, I thought they were using the "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" vehicle.
Apparently they're not.

The Liana, as I understand it, is in limited use as, "...Clarkson noted that the Liana would be pulled out for use by Formula 1 drivers in the future."

why not the LS2LS7? 4:02PM (11/29/2007)
Yeah. I think they wanted to have apples-to-apples comparisons against previous F1 drivers who drove the Liana. Especially since I think the other two F1 drivers who drove it were both British too.
Steven 3:05PM (11/29/2007)
To properly compare the professional drivers that visit the show, Top Gear continues to use the previous car, the Liana. Lacetti used in all other cases.

Anyone know if they will be airing the review of the F430 Scuderia on Sunday?

They said in last weeks episode that they were originally planning on doing the filming for the Scuderia this week, but that the demo car had been crashed so it was basically being delayed until Ferrari provided them with a new one.
And on that note, am I just imagining things or hasn't Fifth Gear already done a Scuderia review? They seem to be beating Top Gear with the big reviews recently, the 599 and Caparo T1 both spring to mind.

holy...this is going to be awesome. :D

They should race Stig and Hamilton from a standing start. Or at least time them both on the same day so the conditions are the same. Who do you think will win?
