Sticker Swap: Dodge switches NASCAR COT from Avenger to Charger

For the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup season, Dodge has announced that it will replace the "Avenger" stickers on its Car of Tomorrow with the "Charger" stickers it had been using on its non-COT racers this past year. The announcement is loaded with flowery prose that name-drops Richard Petty and talks of the Charger nameplate's race heritage (the Intrepid era is conveniently overlooked). That, says Dodge, is why it was a natural decision to campaign the full-time COT as a "Charger." We think it's mostly because the "real car" version of the Avenger is lame. Seriously, we'd take an old Spirit R/T over a new Avenger R/T any day.
Thanks for the tip, John!

That's good news because I like the Charger front clip better anyways. I guess that will make Montoya the first and only driver to have won a race using the Dodge Avenger.

Big deal. NASCAR with their unfasonable regulations has managed to create such a sameness among all of the competing cars, nameplates or name stickers could be changed at random without any great difference. How much more boring can it get?

Is there anyone who doesn't think the Avenger is lame?
Honestly, I've never driven one, and I rarely see them. I think I see the old 90's Avengers more often than the new one.

We're trying to combat people who steal our content by pumping our RSS feed into their shell sites. Since they steal our pics along with the content yet leave the hosting to us, we're attempting to replace all the hyperlinked pics on sites that steal our content with our request to cut it out. Unfortunately, we effed up our own site a little bit, but it'll be fixed in a minute.

They could slap a Grand Caravan sticker on there and it wouldn't make any difference.

Can't, sorry, it's already taken. :) Toyota already has an almost identically shaped Camry NASCAR.

Note to the boys at Dodge: We all realize this is *just* a STICKER.

sorry to go off topic - seriously though, who cares - but i had to look up the Spirit R/T. I remember it being one of those insanely powerful, yet hopelessly crude turbo cars that chrysler built with Shelby's help. I found a page on allpar.com claiming it was the 'quickest' 4 door in the world in 1992. Quicker than the E34 M5? Quicker than the M-B E500, or the AMG 300E Hammer? i call shenanigans on allpar...

You have to define 'quick'. Top speed? 1/4 mile? 0-60? 0-100? Then you can say if the statement is true or not. I believe the top speed was 142mph, which for '92 was very, very good (and like AB said I would rather have that than the new Avenger).
