2007 Le Mans Series races to air on Speed TV in December
If you're like me, you wish that there were more European racing on television. Remember the good old days when you could watch FIA GT and WRC on Speed TV? Well, starting on November 30 with a highlight show of the 2007 24 Hours of Le Mans, Speed TV will be airing edited footage of the 2007 Le Mans Series races in hour-long time slots. This will be our first opportunity to see the hot diesel-powered Peugeot 908 HDi in action, though it will only be going to head to head with Audi's oil burner, the R10, in the highlight show of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. As for the Le Mans races, the 1000km of Spa will air on December 3rd, followed by Monza on the 7th, Silverstone on the 10th, Valencia and the Nurburgring on the 14th, and finally Interlagos on the 17th. Do a keyword search for "Le Mans" on SpeedTV's program schedule for full listings and times.

come on speed, air full races plus bring back WRC and i promise i'll sit through all the commercials of the 548 hours of barrett-jackson coverage. you can even air it at 3am; whatever it takes so long as you recognize that there's racing other than nascar in existence today. please? would money help?

RallyTorrents.com for the win - far better coverage than Speed could even dream of providing...

Thanks for the link. There is no way I could catch the awful times of these shows. I don't have TIVO or anything.

Dear SpeedTV,
Great news!
Please return to the good-old days where we could find same day delay WRC, Dakar, etc. coverage. 12 hour pinks-o-thon (already rebroadcast 100 times) blows (pinks ain't all that bad), but a 12 hour WRC year recap (remember that 3-4-5 years ago?) ROCKS!
17 minute Nascar performance would not be so bad if there wasn't 13 minutes of the same commercials! Replaying NASCAR Live 12 hours after it was first filmed kinda sucks.
Barrett-Jackson is nice, a real eye-candy show, I actually come home from work early to watch it. It's too bad that B-J is becoming a scam, with tons of phantom bidding "Oh, did you raise your hand? No. OK, the previous bid was....", shill bidding and the like.
Dakar! How did you loose to OLN? OLN! OLN!!!! OLN shows you how to get around with NO GAS!!!! OLN! Aye carrumba!
Perhaps with SpeedTV HD, there will be more room on the for more around-the-world content.
One final thing... Can you please move the SpeedTV logo around the screen? My TV is starting to burn-in the logo, and it has been properly calibrated with Video Essentials for brightness / contrast / colour.
SpeedTV, I hope the LMS season recap is a step back to the good-old-days.

What ever happened to BTCC?
What ever happened to WTCC?
What ever happened to JGTC?
What ever happened to WRC?
What ever happened to Australian V8 supercar? What ever happened to the European Truck series?
What ever happened to those rare malaysian jungle races?
Once it became the Nascar Channel... er... speed channel, it was time for me to tune out.

BTCC. WRC. Watching all-night races all-night. Speedvision was awesome...

WRC, Le Mans, etc. sniff... Also, remember Victory By Design? God I miss the Speedvision of bygone days. Why don't they spin off NASCARTV and bring back the variety they used to have?
I don't think I've even LOOKED at Speed since June when the 24 hour race finished. I just. can't. take. any. more. NASCAR.
blech.

why not the LS2/LS7? 9:00PM (11/28/2007)
They've already been airing, I've seen Nurburgring (not the Nordschlife) and Spain (Valencia) already.
Honestly, the coverage is as bad as ever. These hour long shows include 10 minute recaps of previous races, blather about what driver/team is doing what and then 28 minutes of edited highlights of the race.
The shows appear to be self-funded (free-to-air) from the amount of press given to sponsors through the blather sections. But in the end, it's barely worth watching.
You can expect to see the Peugeot cars win a lot of the races because at Valencia they were 3 seconds a lap (out of about a 78 second lap) faster than the next closest car. The ACO isn't doing a good job of equalization.
Mike J:
European Truck is gone.
V8 Supercars will certainly air in Jan-Mar on Speed like they do every year. Same with BTCC, and even DTM. WTCC often shows, but not awful. JGTC (Super GT) doesn't air much anymore, but to be honest, the coverage shares the same problems as the LMS coverage does, so it's not a huge loss.
All of these series are too expensive to buy first-run but are cheap to air in the off-season as the rates are lower when the events are old news.

"WTCC often shows, but not awful." What does that mean? I meant "WTCC often shows, but not always."
JDL 11:22AM (11/29/2007)
Yes! I've tivo'd those two already
why not the LS2/LS7? 9:09PM (11/28/2007)
Oh, and one more thing. For those who have SpeedHD, don't bother recording it in HD if space matters to you at all. It doesn't air in HD or even in 16:9, you're just getting the same picture as SD but with a little bit less compression artifacts.

What are they supposed to broadcast at? 480i or something?
Franz 4:54AM (11/29/2007)
I too remember the good old days of Speedvision. Ever since Turner acquired the channel, it's turned into a shrine to NASCAR... even when the final F1 qualifying was on this year, they showed bloody Craftsman Truck Qualifying in the same slot, and we only got to see part of the F1 qualifying... WTF? Bring back real racing! WRC, BTTC, DTM, WTCC... C'mon SPEED.

SPEED is showing all those European races? When will they find time for repeats of ARCA, NASCRAP, NASCRAP poker, NASCRAP Pinks, Pinks, Pinks all out, unique NASCRAP Pink whips and all the other overly-repeated drek they populate that channel with?
