Maybe. I've driven 140+ on empty roads in the middle of the night.... the only person I was endangering was myself. There was no traffic, and I was paying full attention. I say an attentive driver and no traffic is infinitely safer than being surrounded by inattentive yuppie douches in SUVs yapping on cellphones, no matter what the speed.
