2007 Class of The World's Most Beautiful Automobiles

Click the image above for a hi-res gallery of the Reventón
The Lamborghini Reventón has been named L'Automobile più Bella del Mondo. Translation: The World's Most Beautiful Automobile. It earned this honor in the Special Models category of this annual automotive fashion show, recently held for the fifteenth time at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, Italy. There are eleven categories in all, though the Special Models category is generally considered to be the big winner. Other cats include your various sizes of sedans, coupes, convertibles, station wagons, crossovers, sports cars and concept cars. The judging panel included artists, architects, designers, a historian, and a journalist.
We like the Reventón and would even buy one if we had €1 million -- and an invitation -- lying around, but we don't know if it's the most beautiful car in the world. One vehicle we did expect to see on the list is the Aston Martin DBS in the Sports Car category, followed in second place by the supremely tasty Maserati GranTurismo. Lexus should also be happy with its LS 460 deemed the second most beautiful large sedan in the world. What's more beautiful than the LS 460? Why the LS 600h, of course. Follow the jump for the full list of this year's winners.

This award is the biggest "Whatever" of the year. No one cares really.

pfft... what do the italians know about style?

So they basically picked "anything smooth that wouldn't hurt your eyes to look at."
I suppose the Aston deserves it, maybe even the Saturn.

Buick Enclave? While your at it, throw in the new Subaru Impreza, Ford 500 and a Dodge Nitro.

WTF's up with making the Lexus LS first AND second place in the large sedan category? It's basically the same damn car! That's like making the C350 Sport Sedan first place in the medium category, and the C300 Luxury second place. They couldn't find any other good-looking large sedans? Audi A8? Bentley Arnage? Maserati Quattroporte? Jaguar XJ? Hell, even the Lincoln Town Car is better-looking, and less derivative.

Why leave out the S-Class?
It may not be as commanding as previous generations (my opinion, the W140 was the last 'commanding' Benz) but it still is distinctive.

i agree with both of you. it should have been some other car than the lexus.
the ls 460 has many strong points, but styling is definately not one of them. why else would they copy from bmw.
flip a coin. heads its the audi A8, tails its the S class(or the other way round, no prob)

copy from BMW? You do know that the "Bangle butt", as its called, was originally from the Mazda Millenia not BMW.

I realize beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the Reventón? Really? Maybe in a "Most menacing-looking car" contest. It's like saying a stealth fighter is "beautiful". There's no sex appeal there, it looks like a weapon that is all buisness. The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione should've walked away with this one IMHO.

I agree on the Buick Enclave. It should have been voted best crossover. It is far better styled than the competition.

Not sure how the Mercedes C Class made it on the list. Far from a beautiful automobile IMO - I guess the evaluators like the look of a Dodge Dakota which could be positioned in this unique and useless event just as easily...

i was just about to say the same thing!
overall the C class is nice, but the back is nothing to brag about. i'm not the biggest fan of lexuses either but i think in this case the IS shouldv'e won. that car is really nice looking
