how much are PS3's running these days? i hear it's worth it just for this game and for the blue-ray disc player.

That's true, the PS3 (now $399 with a 40gb HD, $499 with an 80gb) is currently the least expensive Blu-Ray player on the market. That's a good basis to buy it too, but yeah, I too will be getting it for GT5.
