EVO magazine has picked its Car of the Year Winner: the Porsche GT3 RS, which we're going to call The Orange Crush from now on. It only just beat out the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, and had only slightly more breathing between it and the third place Audi R8. Looking at the entire top ten list, two race-cars-for-the-street beat eight other cars with nifty little features like power windows and leather seats, which makes sense, but even cars like the 350Z and Mini Cooper S Works still made it on the list.

However, the most interesting result could be that the Honda Civic Type R came in sixth... one spot ahead of the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. We have no idea what their exact criteria was, not having read the article, but it appears that at EVO, raging bulls should be a little more ... civic.

"We have no idea what their exact criteria was ..."

The list is a slightly revised version of the most-likely-to-get-stolen-if-left-alone-in-south-central-LA list.

You are lucky I got my copy of evo in the post today, Autoblog!

Otherwise I would be annoyed you'd spoilt the surprise - usually you have to read through 20 pages at least of Car Of The Year feature before you find out!

For the record, they judge cars based on 'evoness', which they define as 'the thrill of driving'. Which is why a Japan-spec Civic Type-R can beat a Gallardo Superleggy.

      Gah. Double Posted. My bad.

I love the color of that Porsche. It's almost like the old "Grabber Orange" from the muscle car era.

And now I miss my old '72 911.

Let's just all be thankful that it wasn't a hybrid that won it okay? Or worse, a T1 Caparo which breaks down every few mins and recently turned Jason Plato into Jason Baked Potato...yes it caught on fire...thank you Top Gear for the joke.

It's a great car, but it's such a short-run, specialized vehicle it seems like a cop-out to pick it.
It's not that specialized, I could walk into Inskip Porsche and order one if I wanted...

Awesome car, no way I'll be getting one soon though. :(
      • 7 Years Ago

Hey Jonathon, have you have had someone ruin a movie for you by telling you the ending before you've seen it?

PLEASE STOP PUBLISHING SPOILERS WITHOUT A WARNING, AUTOBLOG! It's rude and unnecessary. Or are you just lazy? How hard would it have been to say "Learn the winner after the jump."?

You suck, Ramsey. Seriously. Have some respect for your readers.
