Word came down from Subaru today that beginning this Thursday, November 15th, it'll be taking orders for its newest roadgoing rally rocket -- coinciding with its NA debut in LA. Although pricing hasn't been revealed yet, Subaru's letter to dealers confirms US-spec output at 305 HP and 290 lb.-ft. of torque. Exterior color choices include Obsidian Black Pearl, Aspen White and WR Blue Mica (natch), along with three new hues: Spark Silver Metallic, Dark Gray Metallic and Lightning Red. The STI still gets 18-inch BBS aluminum-alloy wheels in either Silver or Gold, depending on the chosen exterior shade.

It was so funny when all the Subaru fan boys were happy that GM sold their stake to Toyota. How Toyota was going to improve Subaru's line. Just look at what Toyota has done to the sti. It's like they somehow combined an Aztec with Toyota blandness. That' is one ugly monstrosity.
nissanfreak87 @ Nov 14th 2007 1:00PM
umm, Toyota didn't do this, Toyota only owns 20% of the company, which they basically wanted so they could access Subaru's AWD systems, etc...
The STI is WAY better than the plain-jane Impreza and WRX, but I'm still a bigger fan of the 02-07 models

Subaru did this to win rallys. Sedans just don't handle like hatchbacks in rain/snow/dirt/asphalt. BTW Toyota only owns 8.4% of Fuji Heavy Ind. The 20% was GM, who sold 8.4 to Toyota and left 11.6 on the market. In the end, this car was built for Petter Solberg.

i dont know man.....
not a fan boy, but that looks great in black from that angle.
i want to know what % of the first 1K preorders are male18-29.

That color is actually Dark Gray Metallic, and yes, it looks fantastic. Very seriously considering selling my beloved Impreza RS to get one of these in that exact color.

@Will,
That is funny, I would buy a 2.5RS Coupe and put an STI drivetrain in it long before I would buy this new STI. I like the tech bits of the new STI, but I can't stand the looks. Worse than previous generations.
A home-brew adaptation of a 22b STI would look far better to me than the new impreza styling monstrosity.
I'd also put an STI turbo, TMIC and intake, Brembos, and a 6MT swap on my already Stage 2 tuned 05 Legacy GT before buying a new STI, too. I could probably do those mods, add in the price I paid for my car, and still come out ahead of a new STI's price.

You obviously only care about acceleration, because you're comparing a sports sedan to a sports car. Suspension, brakes, balance, all need to be addressed to make your LGT run with an STI. Oh yea and also the most important part, torsen rear lsd vs your viscious lsd.

*I can't wait to pimp my new STi totally out with custom seats, exhaust, Nitro, decals, wheels...I'm gonna be so cool.*
Hair gel not included.
nissanfreak87 @ Nov 14th 2007 1:17PM
what's wrong with modding a car to perform better? If it's tastefully done then it's an even better car than t was from the factory. The STI is one of the best tuning platforms out there. I've seen Crawford performance's STI, 670awhp with the stock tranny, now THAT's a car.
because you know all those muscle cars back in the 60s and 70s being modded with straight pipes and headers etc... are so different than what we're doing now.
rv2 @ Nov 14th 2007 3:04PM
You sound too stupid to work on cars. Stick with the hair gel...

Has pricing been released yet?
dap7298 @ Nov 14th 2007 2:44PM
PREORDERS with no specs? WTF do they take us for. With this kind of physical restyling and with the numbers from the new and improved (NOT) wrx I wouldn't touch this car without some hard data.
Will @ Nov 15th 2007 1:35PM
Specs come out the same day preorders begin.
chris @ Nov 14th 2007 3:00PM
Still glad I picked up my 07 STI.
adrian @ Nov 14th 2007 4:03PM
Ill take an EVO, thanks.
stimr2 @ Nov 14th 2007 4:38PM
I've been waiting for the new STI to come out. I don't plan on buying another STI. I'm either going to keep my 04 or get something rwd.
bj @ Nov 15th 2007 1:42PM
How much is this car gonna cost? couple grand more than last year for this hideous design? i will be so angry if its more expensive after wat they've done to it. it better drive well atleast.
mr555 @ Jan 8th 2008 5:50PM
