It's sad when you have to think about what car model you have. MKS, MKZ, MKX. So confusing. What's wrong with Aviator, Zephyer, etc. Much easier to remeber a name associated with a car model. They know you don't know if you have a MKZ, MKS, S&M, or what. You have a "Lincoln" and that's what you'll tell your buddies while you're playing squash. I too lament the days when cars had names and not alphabet soup, but the other "luxury" brands have been doing this for ever. The Acura RL, TSX, MDX, RSX, TL. The Lexus LS, IS, GS. This isn't a base commuter car for those who can barely afford gas day to day. If you're worrying about the extra few dollars per fillup, then you shouldn't be buying a $38,000 luxury vehicle. They didn't start that stupid trend. MB and BMW were always like that. Of course, theirs made sense until recently, as it identified the series/class of car and the engine it carried. Now they sometimes just throw whimsical numbers in the name, not tied to the actual engine displacement... Then Lexus jumped on board (after all, copying while improving on MB is the whole basis of the existance of Lexus), then Acura switched from good names like Legend, Integra, etc. to more stupid letters.

I'd much rather Caddy and Lincoln still had names, but they are responding to a trend that began with several others.
