On the Mustang front, the past seven days have been the week of the Bullitt. The media rush is in stark contrast to the Bullitt's understated demeanor, but with its 315 HP engine and track-tuned suspension, Steve McQueen's chase machine reincarnated deserves it. Yesterday we showed you Popular Mechanics' video of the Bullitt in action, and today we've got Ford's shot of its newest Mustang in motion pictures. The Blue Oval's piece has a lot less substance, but it still features the Bullitt sliding on pavement as if it were wearing ice skates. Check out the Mustang slip and slide after the jump.
No way this is an official Ford video. Where is the Mustang racing through the streets of San Francisco?? They had better go back and redo this one big time.
I'm really getting sick of hearing about this Bullitt. We get it - it's a throw back to Steve McQueen's Mustang. But it's just another damn Mustang among the multitude of special edtions that Ford keeps pumping out. Stop reporting about it already.
calm down dude, if you don't wanna read about it, why did you click on the article and waste your time posting a comment? Just skim over it next time. You gotta understand that this site has quite a varied readership, including people who might be quite enthusiastic about a car that you might not find very interesting.
I say the more posts the merrier, it doesn't take much to keep on scrolling if something doesn't interest me.
As with every Mustang post someone seems to have to point this out to all the "haters" out there.
Ford hasn't been cranking out a multitude of Mustang versions. There are only four. The GT, the V6, the Shelby, and the GT500. The rest are all created by after market companies.
That aside I find the Bullitt version really boring. Looks like a V6 with a V8 in it. Frankly I found the movie really boring too. I mean the car chase was cool but the rest of it was zzzzzzz. In one scene we watched him shop for groceries, nothing else happened in the scene he just picked up some stuff at the store. Why do I want to see that???
Man, everybody's a critic! There's a difference between a fully-produced :30 spot with an agency and media buy attached and a quickie video that's pretty much viral content. Geez - at least they used tripods and dutch angles and stuff!
Say what you will about the Mustang, the fact is that most of the special editions are AFTERMARKET, and the crush of Mustang stuff out there is a testament to the vehicle's popularity.
Oh, and this Bullitt edition looks badass - even better than the Bullitt edition they sent the SN95 Mustangs off with, which was the best that car ever got, too.
Oh come on Dan. You know this is pretty weak for Ford, especially considering what they have done in the past. The music, the BULLET with gun shot intro that reminded me of a late 80's arcade game (the artwork in the beginning looked cool...and then that came in). The middle section is fairly good, but could use a little punching-up, and the end... exactly what was that? It could have been so much more.

ok this is why Ford fails at life.
rndmnme @ Nov 11th 2007 12:13PM
Wow...that's incredibly lame. I could have done better with a Hi-8 cam and Windows Movie Maker.
strongbadinator @ Nov 11th 2007 3:06PM
The sad thing is, the font and the 'feel' of the thing really does feel EXACTLY like windows movie maker.
Yaroukh @ Nov 11th 2007 12:14PM

Brian @ Nov 12th 2007 11:04AM

Thank you!
I mean really, one of the best bits I've ever seen on Autoblog (the Nissan gallery) bookended by endless chatter about an overhyped retro boat.

It isn't that bad for a small production... but for Ford, I'm not too convinced. Even that Chinese (Ethiopian) commercial looks better than this.
Rafa @ Nov 11th 2007 1:44PM
That commercial was totally awesome.
Rob @ Nov 11th 2007 1:48PM
Honestly.......who cares. This has to be the ugliest of all the Suckstangs. With all the half-assed crap ford forces on us they'll never see my $.
THAT VIDEO FRIGGIN' SUCKED!
