VIDEO: 2007 Ultimate Street Car Challenge Part 2 and 3

GT Channel has released number 2 of its 7 part Sport Compact Car Magazine Ultimate Street Car Coverage. We posted a link to the first clip so we are trying to keep things up to date as new parts are uploaded. You won't see a single Mustang in the video either, we promise. It is pretty much limited to a rear-wheel-drive Integra (!) and an Ariel Atom. Follow the jump for the video.

UPDATE: It looks like part 3 has also made it through the editing room so we've just added it for your further viewing enjoyment! It features a Toyota Supra and Scooby WRX STI, so once again no Mustangs.

No Mustangs? What's the point? There hasn't been a new Mustang released for going on HOURS now.

I give the guy credit for his Acura, the Atom is awesome, but that girl was the best thing about these vids. Actually, that's not saying much.

I thought I was going to see the cars in action! One corner and a straight for the Atom; nothing for the Acura. WTF?

Has Autoblog joined the I HATE Mustangs crowd? Your cheering for no Mustangs in the videos will likely encourage more of the crap that us Mustang enthusiasts have to endure on this site. Thanks

Hmmm...interesting. Sport Compact Car Magazine Ultimate Street Car Challenge looks interesting. But, I think it's for the younger tuner crowd these days...
Still looks interesting from an engineering/science (engine development and performance) viewpoint. If you have any infomation about the rules/regulations;horsepower limits, power adders, road course layout-elevations changes etc...please post, or is it an anything goes... vehicle setup for the Ultimate Street Car Challenge?
The time-date they cross the line...

I competed in the event 3 times. At the time when I played the rules are pretty straight forward.
You must use the same set of tires for the entire event. So no drag radials for drag and road race tires etc. Set up your car and then go to battle.
From memory the event is two days and the areas tested were:
Day 1
Max Horsepower
Area under the power curve
Car show to see how "showey" your car is
Engineering to see how well thought-out the modifications and do they make sense
Grand ma test. How will your grand ma enjoy riding in your car
Drivability test to see if the car can be driven daily
Fuel economy [I got 35 MPG out of a 920 HP Supra]
Initial vehicle price if you bought it from a dealer new. More money the car costs the less points you get.
Day 2
Skid pad
Drag racing
Road racing
and finally the gross display of HP... 90 seconds and an empty parking lot to do what ever you want and make it look interesting.
Most of the smart guys will compromise in some areas to set up the car to do well in all of the areas.

The grandma test has since morphed into the girlfriend test.
Once all the video parts get finished then hopefully people should be able to tell what the whole event involves. Regardless if you go to the Sport Compact Car Website: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com and search for the Ultimate Street Car Challenge that is the best way to learn more. They should put a callout in up coming issues for entry submittal to the next event.

Hi, MKIV and Merritt. I got your message about the Sport Compact Car Magazine Ultimate Street Car Challenge rules and regulations/vehice setup. Thanks, I appreciate it.
Hmmm...Very Interesting MKIV Fuel economy "[I got 35 MPG out of a 920 HP Supra]" I would like to see that Supra one day...smile. I once drove 45 highway miles on gas fumes...smile.
Have a great day. Thanks.
