Sorta Confirmed: US-spec Subaru Impreza STI to bow in LA

Click the image above for more high-res pics of the Subaru Impreza STI.
To all of you States-based Subie fans, November 15th is your day. At 10:35 AM, the new Impreza STI will supposedly make its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in U.S.-spec trim. The good news comes courtesy of an email received by a Subaru dealer and posted on NASIOC, although it's yet to be confirmed by any of our sources at Subaru. We'll be on hand to fondle the new STI if it does make its debut next week, so as always, watch this space.

I'm really liking that hatch.

It's growing on me, too.
I saw an 08 base-Impreza sedan recently, however, and wished I hadn't. It looks like an afterthought.

Time to bask upon the horrible flat seats that the USDM STI will get.
We're not going to get the nice Recaros. Subaru of America thinks that all Americans are size 5XL. (and they'd be mostly right, but I would have liked an option for the regular-sized people seats with real bolstering)

Well I was told the It will be showed at LA autoshow by Subaru at SEMA. So I am guessing this info leaked is correct.

It is UGLY. Less ugly than the base impreza is like being the tallest garden gnome statue in the garden. Still pretty darn short, and no better looking.
fender flares on a gourd would look as good.
Don't get me wrong, technically it is a very nice car. But aesthetically, [austin powers]'that isn't a car, that is a squash, baby!
If that is a car it has been beaten with an ugly stick.[/austin powers]
If this were a sleek three door fastback-hatch-coupe that looked very cool, it would be a truly fantastic 'attainable' performance car. It has the chassis and drivetrain to be a great performer. As long as you wear a blindfold while walking toward it.
My 2005 Legacy is so much better looking, from every angle, If they had just forwarded that design language, instead of building a 'sport compact tribeca.'
So close, yet so far away.

Your 2005 Legacy is so much worse looking.

you must have some kind of eyesight condition. There is no other explanation for that comment.
The 2005-2007 Legacy sedan is objectively better looking than the 08 impreza 5-door "Quasimodo Edition." It is beyond a matter of opinion, although I admit mine isn't favorable.
From the headlights to the character lines, hood scoop, sidewindow profile, frameless glass, trunklid shape, and the whole works, every bit of the Legacy looks better than the new impreza, even the STI. Not up for debate, pretty much established fact.
I do wish my Legacy had the uprated turbo/TMIC, 6mt with DCCD, and normal 5x114.3 bolt pattern wheels, and Brembo brakes. The technical bits are where the STI has the edge over the rest of the line, even the Legacy GT.

I finally saw a WRX in person recently at a dealership. I must admit, the hatch looks much better in person than in pictures. It's actually not bad looking, I would even call it distinctive. Now, the sedan is a completely different story...

Yea I saw one today, as well. It looked just as I would expect it to--awesome.

It looks like a Kia Spectra hatchback. Plain and dull.

Finally we get our focus ST that ford has been holding out on.. Oh wait...
James 11:37AM (11/06/2007)
Seriously I think that's why I love this car, it looks like the ST that I SERIOUSLY love. It's like dating a girl cause she happens to look like the girl you never got. Not saying that's totally bad or love can't sprout on it's own, but you didn't get into it for the right reasons.

I guess its sorta growing on me, and I like the way the black one looks from the back on the picture (from afar :P).
Though if they brought out something like the Lancer Sportback instead, they wud've totally gotten my vote. Hopefully Mitsubishi brings it out.

I just took a good look at the new Imprezas at the Seattle Auto Show, and I really do like the new hatch. It looks good in black, but Subaru really needs to come up with some better color choices than red, blue, silver, black, and white. Lack of a good color wheel seems to be pandemic in the US and Japan. They've been picking from the same 12-pack of crayola's for too long. The beige interior will at least hide the stains from all the wrenching that bit of hideousness will cause.

Fuzzy/M3Driver - This is my biggest pet peeve. A car that's supposed
to have any kind of performance should have good seats. I love the
seats in my 2002 wrx. I drove an R32 the other day and that had
great seats. Good bolstering, nice shape. The new WRX has corolla
seats. I don't get it.
I can deal with less HP and cheap interiors on a car that's trying to
keep the price down. But these aweful seats don't save money, they
just make the car less fun.

So it sounds like we'll all have to add the price of a set of Recaros' to our STi stickers.
I am sure the dealers will build a package to include them.

Took my 'ol Buick to the drag strip a few weeks ago and a guy had a brand newblue WRX sedan there. While the styling is pretty conservative, I have to say that it was MUCH better looking in person than what it looked like online. I liked it alot.
He was running 14.3's and 14.4's. Not super quick, but that's not what the car's about anyways.
