Even though Chevy denies buyers a Z71 version of the Silverado 2500HD, it wants you to know how cool it could be. Say hello to "Big Red," powered by a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel backed by a six-speed Allison transmission, it combines a number of GM performance accessories with Rancho shocks and an "Earnhardt Red" paint scheme similar to that found on last year's NASCAR-legend inspired offering.
Chevy's full press release is posted after the jump.

That new Silverado just doesn’t look right no matter how much BS you bolt onto it.

Time to put to coo-coo back in the clock Larry
tim-bit @ Oct 29th 2007 9:54AM
Where do I sign to get one of these made for me?
Vivek @ Oct 29th 2007 9:57AM
Will they offer an Earnhardt green or blue silverado next year since he is changing colors?
Russell @ Oct 29th 2007 11:30AM
I don't think Dale Jr is NASCAR-legend yet, so I guess they're talking about the last Earnhardt Edition Monte Carlo.
Vivek @ Oct 29th 2007 11:38AM
No they are talking about Dale Jr silverado that was shown last year, complete with Dale Jr's signature and the # on the side.

My 2500 hd is a z71,the only thing they deny us is the dale jr red paint,if we vote for best looking truck at sema this one takes the lead.
rar @ Oct 29th 2007 11:10AM
It looks good, but what is the price tag?
Russell @ Oct 29th 2007 11:15AM
37s would look even better on this truck
Jonathan Webb @ Oct 29th 2007 11:34AM
Seriously, is Autoblog owned by GM now? Lose the Ads pretending to be posts or I'm out of here.
ChevyLust @ Oct 29th 2007 11:51AM
See 'ya. Don't let the door...
Pokey @ Oct 29th 2007 12:26PM
GM isn't selling any of these SEMA cars and trucks to the general public, so how could these be considered ads?
I'm sure when AutoBlog gets pics of other SEMA vehicles from other manufacturers, they'll post those too.
I don't see you complaining about the daily posts concerning the Nissana GTR. Stop whining!
Paul J. @ Oct 29th 2007 11:42AM
The truck looks quite good... But what's the thing with Americans and not using wheel arches when modifying? To me it just looks like somebody forgot to put them on. Driving that thing in gravel certainly wouldn't do the paint job any favours.
And those big rims? I don't really see the point. Put that thing on 38 inch super swampers, off road cars need big rubber, not rims.
Guenther @ Oct 29th 2007 2:31PM
As you say- it looks good. Function is a distant second. If it weren't, there'd be 37's mounted on some 17" wheels...blablabla... Most of what you'll see from SEMA is serious over-the-top bling.
Christian @ Oct 29th 2007 12:13PM
What's with the heavy GM content today from SEMA on Autoblog? Different articles back to back on different painted Hummers? How about 1 truck summary story from GM from SEMA. Thanks.
Sagracer @ Oct 29th 2007 1:02PM
You do know how to scroll past these stories if you aren't interested, right?
I would have though that would be faster and a more efficeint use of time than posting an ignorant comment.
Moltenauto @ Oct 29th 2007 1:23PM
Automakers release all of their press releases at once. Why should autoblog delay them? When Chrysler releases theirs, there will be heavy Chrysler content, etc., etc.
spots @ Oct 29th 2007 6:51PM
Seriously cool looking truck, for a Chevy. I'd get it muddy!
Adan H. @ Oct 29th 2007 7:08PM
What surprises me is that while this may be a heavy duty truck, they still refuse to build solid front axles for them. I'd think that the IFS would be an Achilles heel on an otherwise excellent vehicle.
