American dealers tend to do this- they milk their few in demand products for all they are worth, to hell with future considerations. I remember when an Olds dealer laughed at my dad when he was interested in a Cutlass Convertible in the early 90s, which I guess was hot back then. What a joke.
BTW, I think a base Cayman would school the GT500 around a road course, with the half the horsepower and the same price.

Good points both, but if we were rational about cars, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion. ---I remember when Shelby was with Dodge in the mid/late 80's and I saw a $5K markup at the time on a 1988 Dodge Shadow coupe. My Prediction; Shelby passes in January 2008, sending the value of the cars through the roof, and speculators grab them all. (yes all) -- there will be no 2009 cars, cause- as after Ol' Shel is gone- --whats the point>? maybe there will be a 2008 Bullit model or a 2009 Mach1. BTW: if you are over 6ft tall- forget driving a Cayman.

Yeah, I noticed that about the Cayman. Is the Boxster any better?
