You don't have to look to hard to find one at 5-6k over msrp. With the 2008's coming out and nearly 11,000 produced for 2007, the supply is increasing and demand is coming down. My guess is that should be near msrp fairly soon. The only reason a dealer would keep the price up is if they just want eye candy for their showroom.

Drew Phillips

Comments on Roush/Ford Racing announce GT500 supercharger upgrade

I have been trying to purchase a GT500 for over 6 months. There are over 100, 2007 GT500s in California as I type this. You are right, The 2008s are shipping now. All I wanted was a MSRP deal. This seems to be impossible to get, even with the help and guidance of Ford Corporate. A FoMoCo Marketing Exec referred me to a dealer that was to provide a MSRP deal. When I was contacted by the referral dealer, the dealer ownership refused unless Ford replaced the car. Keep in mind that the profit margin is 12% on this car if not higher at MSRP.($5K) Ford Dealers have sold over 11K units at MSRP; the dealer network is realizing a 55M profit from the 2007 MY, PRIOR TO ADP with no fuss. Now the problem that really makes me angry; average markup I have been quoted is 8-10K over MSRP so that would be an additional 110M per MY profit. As a lifelong Mustang and Shelby guy, I am feeling somewhat let down and like they are trying to rip me off. I keep getting phone calls with “ I have an internet special at 15K over sticker.”-- In the end I think the really loyal customers are getting a raw deal. The people who are ok with throwing 10-15k over sticker are getting cars, the cars are sitting longer on the lots and getting damaged in the process. The tickler .. I mentioned to the FORD Dealer that I was dealing with that I could get a below MSRP deal on a Corvette Z51 or Z06 and it didn’t make sense for a 45K GT500 car to be at 59K…he told me to go buy a Corvette.

Steve Wood

Comments on Roush/Ford Racing announce GT500 supercharger upgrade

I've heard some bad stories as well. It seems as though many Ford dealers are going for short term gain while potentially losing long term customers. I'm surprised that there aren't any dealerships that are at least giving good deals to loyal customers and Mustang fans. It will be interesting to see what happens in late 2008 or 2009 when no one will even pay msrp because there will be 30,000+ on the road by then. Perhaps their attitudes will change by then.

Drew Phillips

Comments on Roush/Ford Racing announce GT500 supercharger upgrade

Steve Wood:
"The tickler .. My Prediction; Shelby passes in January 2008, sending the value of the cars through the roof, and speculators grab them all. (yes all) -- there will be no 2009 cars, cause- as after Ol' Shel is gone- --whats the point>? maybe there will be a 2008 Bullit model or a 2009 Mach1. It pissed me off just to read that. I'm sorry you have to put up with that. $7500 over sticker, that is absurd. I can understand maybe, just maybe $2000 over sticker. Technically it's not market value if it's just sitting on their lot waiting for some dumbass to come pay for it.
