I took my previous WRX wagon and put every STi part available onto my car just so I could have a wagon version of the STi (and a sleeper at that). So Mr. Hammerburg, meet me, the man who made your comment false. That's what made an STI stand out from the other boring crap the Japanese manufacturers put out. But ultimately its a business and bottom lines matter more. So I'm sure they'll sell more of these but at the expense of those that bought the previous 2 generations of Imprezas.

VPN

Comments on Tokyo Motor Show: Subaru WRX STI debut

am I wrong for saying this but i like this car more than its predecessor. this is one hot hatch. forget the sedan this wagon is actually attractive.

The old car did make a bold statement but it wasn't attractive enough. The thing is that old STi looked more aggressive but that is what held it back, people want Camry's and Corolla's, not a rally car with a giant hood scoop and rear spoiler. Subaru may have lost some customers from the previous generations of the STi but now that it looks like any other car out there, they're gonna sell tons of them. I personally liked the two previous generations of STi better but I don't have to worry about the bottom line so that doesn't matter, Subaru is gonna make way more money with this car, thats the only reason they redesigned it.

SuperSkyline89

Comments on Tokyo Motor Show: Subaru WRX STI debut

I like the new hatch WRX/STI quite a bit. I don't love it. Test drove a WRX, nice but soft riding car, probably comes out to cost a little too much for the package, if you ask me, but then again, for the money there aren't many other sporty AWD offerings like the WRX. But still, it doesn't feel like an almost-$30k car.

Went back yesterday for another test drive. The guy in my Northern California Subaru dealer said they weren't selling. I'd be surprised if they sell a single sedan. Most of the ones on the lot were at least $27k. That back end just doesn't look like a $25k car - looks like a Focus.

I can't see this Impreza redesign lasting too long. I hope Subaru doesn't feel too much pain from this one but they need to get their game on if they want to compete.

rv2

Comments on Tokyo Motor Show: Subaru WRX STI debut

Reliable, practical, fast as hell, and without that ridiculous wing on the old version!
