The never-ending stampede of Mustang variations continues with the "Twister Special" developed by R&A Motorsports of Lees Summit, MO. The Twister carries the same name as a limited edition Mach 1 that was developed as a promotion by Ford for its Kansas City area dealers back in 1970. That particular Mustang featured special graphics, a 428 SCJ V8, drag pack, competition suspension, upgraded front brakes, and a shaker hood scoop. It came in any color as long as you chose Grabber Orange.
Working with Classic Design Concepts, R&A Motorsports put together an appearance package that carries over many of the design themes of the original. A functional shaker scoop engraved with "Twister Special" resides in a more aggressive hood. A new front and rear spoiler gives the Mustang a more aggressive look, as well as the 20-inch Foose wheels wrapped with Pirelli tires. Also included in the package is a new grille with centered headlights, sequential taillights out back, Eibach lowering springs, and a Ford Racing exhaust. Coupes come with Classic Design Concept's glassback roof and c-pillar scoops, while the ragtop version features a convertible lightbar. "Twister Special" logos can be found on the front fenders, floor mats, and headrest covers, and each car comes with a personalized vehicle identification plate.
Only 96 Twister Specials are planned for production – 48 coupes and 48 convertibles- the same number produced as the original, and pricing for the package comes in at $12,995.

Waste of money if you ask me. It looks like a bland mix between a GT and a Shelby GT and a little Saleen (Blacked out between the tail lights). The only huge difference I can see is the fog lights have been pushed together into the center. That is so worth $12 grand

I guess when you build something bad, you just make 1,000 variations of it and people like it.
Yaroukh 3:36AM (10/23/2007)
you'll just have to wait year or two
Brett Bertrand 9:29AM (10/23/2007)
and wait i shall, i think it'll be worth it. what do you think?

Truck-like handling. Big, ham-handed, plasticy, clumsy attempt at "retro". K-Mart interior. Cheap, fake hoodscoop.
Yaroukh 3:35AM (10/23/2007)
er... how was Mustang bad?
Bryan 10:05PM (10/22/2007)
Do we really have to go through this everytime? The Mustang is a hot car with a huge following. People make their own versions to get a piece of the pie. Simple as that.

So that brings the number of Mustang variations up to, what, 125,254,642,634?
How about a Hurricane edition next? Or maybe a special lighter-shade-of-blue edition? Or maybe a SUPAFAST version? Or maybe MADTYTETOKYOYO version.
Maybe a "homage to the Mustang" Mustang? Or even a Mercury rebadge of the Mustang? ZING

Man ford is really milkin this bodystyle.
Time has come and gone when they should have called back their designers from hiatus and come up with something at least a little new. Its getting so tired.

Its about as popular as some Honda civic/accord with some rims and a whoopee cushion exhaust. Just the American Version..
(although the 300/Magnum/Charger probably fits that more in terms of numbers)
MrMischief 9:59AM (10/23/2007)
No power adders? Super ghey. For $13,000 there should be more then just a cat back exhaust and some pretty pieces.

Are you guys serious? It's not Ford making this car, it's R&A Motorsports. If anything, it's a success for Ford and the Mustang since so many people want to make a variation. You guys are ripping on the Mustang because it's SUCCESSFUL.
As for the car, looks pretty nice. Definitely in the top 5 of the Mustang variations.

Yah dude, thats right i'm ripping on the car because its sucessful.
WillDaThrill 1:35AM (10/23/2007)
Um, even though it's made by another company, they must get authorization from Ford to alter a Ford vehicle to sell with R&A name on it. So yeah, technically Ford allowed them to sell another variation of the Mustang, which is almost as good as saying that Ford has another variation of the Mustang.
RACER X 1:46AM (10/23/2007)
Seeing as it's priced as a package I'm assuming that you provide the Mustang and they convert it, therefore they would not need Ford's permission as it would be just a bunch of aftermarket accessories.
