Clearly the American LeMans Series was well aware of Chevy's plan to trot out a ZR1 test car for a couple hot laps on Laguna Seca last Friday. Not only did the organization take video of the relatively impromptu event (see the footage after the jump), but we've also got new pics supplied by the ALMS of the ZR1 doing its thing on the track. Check out the suspension compression caught by the camera when the ZR1 tackles Laguna Seca's infamous Corkscrew. It illustrates just how hard the ZR1 tester was being pushed for the benefit of fans. Clearly it wasn't painted Velocity Yellow and hauled all the way from Detroit to do a couple of parade laps.

why not the LS2LS7? @ Oct 22nd 2007 1:38PM
The passenger is clearly holding a camcorder.

carbon ceramic brakes and goodyear racing tires...
so will it be faster than an enzo or just faster than a gt2?

It should be on par with the Enzo in terms of performance.

That thing is flying! I have never seen a street car move that fast at Laguna Seca!
Enzo like speeds, more accessible, cheaper, and more usable! It's enough for even euro guys to take pride in GM a American automaker.

When they are filming the monitor it is all squished and tall looking. Like a Suzuki X90.

By the way I still think that roofline is different

Wow...that Vette was really moving around that track. I wish there was actual sound. Drool....

So - did anyone get any laptimes? Noise, cheeseball music, paint jobs, etc, are usless, we need laptimes.
johdaxx @ Oct 22nd 2007 6:32PM
Okay, google is my friend - laptimes were in the 1:39s. Slow...they were just soft-pedaling it. However, I will say that is pretty cool that they took it out for a quick show-around.

You do realize even at that this Vette turned the same lap time as a 993 Cup car?
