2009 Toyota Corolla debuts in dealer ad?
UPDATE: We figured it out. The car below is the Australian Corolla sedan, though what's to say the 2009 model destined for U.S. shores won't share the same front end?

Stranger things have happened, you know. We're about a week and a half away from the 2009 Toyota Corolla's official debut at this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas, and media will get to preview the new small car this week. It could just be, however, that a dealer somewhere spilled the beans by accidentally publishing a pic of the new Corolla in its weekly circular. Do we think that's the case? Hardly. It's probably just a Toyota model of which we're not aware, perhaps a Camry derivative. But hey, we've been wrong before. Muchos gracias to anyone who can correctly identify the car if it is, in fact, a current model.
Thanks for the tip, Peter!

This is European Toyota Corolla. In Europe Corolla is only available in sedan version. HB version is known as new Toyota Auris.

The car pictured in the ad is a European Toyota Corolla sedan. Nice car, nothing special though, you can buy it here (Hungary) with a 1.4 and 1.6 liter inline 4 petrol engines, and a 1.4 liter turbodiesel. In the past, the US and European Corollas were different models, now probably Toyota will sell the same car worldwide.

Boring, yes, but improved on the old model.
North America have to be one of the last markets in the world not to have even seen this car, let alone have it released for sale...

That is what happens when the Newpaper does a Google seach for a pic and copies it into an ad. I have seen it done locally. The person doing the ad doesn't know anything about cars and just went off of the seach.

Not according to my friend who works for a local newpaper. They take the info and set up the ad, Any typo's fall on them.

Are you guys kidding me? You don't know what it is? For an automotive blog which has actually covered this car its pretty bad... its the new Corolla, which we likely will be getting here very soon. How could you say Camry?

I wouldn't judge it from a crappy black and white photo.

Yes it's the new Corolla, but this is not an Australian ad. Aussies use the metric system officially so the reference to miles gives it away. Also, in Australia it's called the Toyota Ultima - but essentially the same car.

Um, it's called the Toyota Corolla. I saw a commercial for it like 15 minutes ago. I've lived in Australia all my life and have never heard of any car called the Toyota Ultima. It's an American ad where they just took pictures of the Corolla sedan from Australia/Europe to use in their own ad.
Paul 7:58PM (10/22/2007)
You're right. Seems I was talking out of my arse there. Ultima is actually just a Corolla trim level, according to the website. I've lived in Australia at some point too - I should know better. :)
