LMAO. Please, get a clue. Crappy cars huh? My grandmothers 2000 Taurus has had zero-that's right-zero issues. The only time it has spent in a shop was when it was rearended. Very reliable car that is about to turn 8. Let's talk about unreliable cars that sludge up(Camry), catch on fire and stall(Prius), Echo(need I say more), major engine failure (Tundra), weak transmissions(Honda's), wheels that fall off(civic). I could go on but you already know this, you just don't like to admit it.

I was just scanning the comments when I saw a stone fly from this glass house.
When you're domestic quality anecdote is a Ford you might not want to trot out the engine fires and stalling as Ford has been dealing with cruise controls and ignition modules causing both those respective problems. They agreed (after over a decade of denying there was a problem) to pay for engines ruined by broken head gaskets in the 3.8L V6, and the Focus was recalled at launch for, of all things, a problem that could result in the wheels falling off. They also installed 4wd components on FWD escapes that I think resulted in possible wheel loss but I'm too tired to dig around for that. GM is now on the ball and they have only recently slipped to number 2 world wide. The way things are going for GM, well, they should have their lead back in 5 years. All they need is their North American line up to start picking up again. The new Malibu should finally be the car that gets the ball rolling. Perceptions are changing and Toyota is slipping lately. Consumer Reports, recalls, and loss of top American management show that they are not the perfect company that the media seems to believe. It is very impressive where they were and how they got to be number one, no doubt about it. Smart, calculated, and really a story that is a great business case study. Now they are on top, arrogant, and losing direction as they do not know how to lead.

J.Crew

Comments on Toyota celebrates 50 years of U.S. sales

And thats exactly what people predicted would happen to Toyota when they became #1

darth

Comments on Toyota celebrates 50 years of U.S. sales

Honestly, I could care less how long Toyota has been peddling their wares in our country. The seats are comfy, have good and adjustable support (the driver's anyway), the controls are all super intuitive, the cruise control is smart since there's a drive by wire system (02+), and it's quiet enough in the cabin that you don't have to blast your music just to hear it.

And hell, they even put a damned cassette player in there just for good measure.

tekdemon

Comments on Toyota celebrates 50 years of U.S. sales

Good to hear on the story of Toyota cars. I expect nothing, but excellent cars in the next 50 years. If it wasn't for Toyota, Honda, or Nissan then the domestic manufacturers would still keep on building POS cars or trucks. Look at Ford, GM, and Chrysler as they close plants, and change their plans. You tell me that the Asian competitors didn't have anything to do with it. It's about time they realize they can't keeping building POS cars or trucks. Ford does have the edge on the F-150, but is it reliable? Nope. Ford still stands for "Found on the Road Dead". It will take a while before the domestics even reach the level of quality the imports are on. Until then I will continue to support the imports.

Miguel Diaz
