With something that looks as exclusive as it is, people have a tendency to feel overwhelmed because they know you are rich. I hate how Audi has 4 of every car model. I really don't like the looks of this convertible. The canvas roof really makes it lose its shape, which is usually what attracts people to the TT. I'm sure its mainly so the cars are more marketable to women; if the women I know are any indication, it completely works too. Come to think of it, the majority of the TTs and SLKs I see on the road have women drivers.

Also, they picked an excellent choice of power if you ask me -- way better than the 3.2L that they use often. What I was trying to say is that Audi can make real sports cars if it wants to (read RS4 & R8), but it doesn't think the market is there for them in the 30-60k range, betting instead on looks and cushy-appeal.

I say blah to that. I find it kind of ridiculous that in VAG's lineup, the next-best sports car after the RS4 is the R32 -- I really don't think any of the S cars truly qualify for "sports car" status. They are fast, yes, but they are also all messy handlers because of their emphasis on comfort.

I have to agree that I don't see many women driving SLK AMGs, but ironically enough, a large portion of the other AMGs I see are piloted by women.

Chase

Comments on Spy Shots: Audi TT-S Coupe and Cabrio

I really like the execution of the front end, particularly the gap between the bottom of the grill, the thin edge of the air dam and the way it makes it seem like it hanging only from the edges. Without it, the car is a total poseur car in its price range. The price shouldn't go up as the current 2.0t is so overpriced they shouldn't have to increase it by a dime - exchange rate be damned. I payed 27k for my GTI which has every option in the base TT except navigation and it has a full leather interior. To get that in a TT is 37 which is just stupid.
