Rumormill: Bugatti Veyron-powered Bentley Arnage

We're all about synergies between sister companies when the result could be a Bentley Arnage powered by the Bugatti Veyron's 1,000+ horsepower quad-turbo W16 engine. That's the rumor coming out of Crewe, and we couldn't be happier to hear it. AutoCar is reporting that Bentley head honcho Franz-Josef Paefgen wants the Arnage to outgun the less expensive Continental Flying Spur again. The larger and older car is currently powered by a 6.75L V8 producing 500 HP. The Flying Spur, meanwhile, gets 552 HP from its twin-turbo W12. In order for the Arnage to trump the Flying Spur, a new engine is needed. Enter the Veyron from fellow VW/Audi Group member Bugatti. While the Veyron fits its engine like a tailored suit around a WWE Wrestler, the same powerplant in the Arnage would likely be significantly detuned. The Veyron has the benefit of all four wheels to help it hook up while the Arnage uses just its rears, so power would have to come down to a more manageable level. Nevertheless, a significantly detuned TT W16 would be more than enough to embarrass the Continental Flying Spur in a straight line.

Weird, I wonder if the engine is going to fit.

If Dodge can put a V12 in a motorcycle, I think they boys at Bentley can shoehorn it in.

"significantly detuned TT W16"
You mean QT (quad-turbo) W16?

I wonder what the weight distribution would be?

Imagine rhyming that in a rap song...
"I got my Veyron-powered Bentley cruisin' the hood..."
Any way, awesome idea.

Hmmm, a 750 - 850HP Bentley.....just in time to become Bond, James Bond's ride once again. It'd be worth purchasing Ford's product placement rights for the next Bond movie.

I was wondering when someone was going to put that engine in something else.

maybe less powerful, but the old good V8 is producing way more torque than the high rev (for a bentley) W12.

A more thorough rebodying of the Bentley Arnage platform and calling it a reborn Bugatti Royale would be intriguing as well.

Sounds like the Bentley Hunaudieres concept.
Nix the turbos, or convert from quad to dual. They can keep the high torque capacity 6 speed auto (774ft-lbs) of the brooklands.
