Once more, with feeling: Inside Line releases its pics of the Nissan GT-R

Today's getting crazy, man. Not long after AutoWeek decided to release images of the Nissan GT-R, which we're unfortunately not allowed to display here, Inside Line went ahead and opened its own coffers that contained 11 new shots of the car that promises 911 performance at a Z06 price. These pics, however, appear to be official ones courtesy of Nissan, so check them out in the gallery. No more news has been offered in terms of engine specs and power output, though we do know it goes from 0-60 MPH in 3.5 seconds, does the quarter-mile in 11.7 seconds and can hit 192 MPH. Oh yeah, and its base MSRP will start below $80,000. We assume outlets like Motor Trend, AutoWeek and Inside Line know more about the car that they're not saying, but at least we have these pretty pictures to look at while we wait.

Even though I am not ready or divorced enough for a 911 or Corvett I will never want that thing. Its an it at the blandist level.. Who will spend 80k on a Nissian? It will be half price in a year.

CONGRATULATIONS we have a winner for the dumbest comment in thread. I simply cant wait to get my halfprice GTR vspec in 2009. This will the happiest day ever. Jeez they should have done this with the NSX. I mean why pay alot for anything that doesnt have a propeller or a 5point star on the hood. No prestige? wtf I am a car guy I need the brand sooooo much. Nissan should just give up and make econoboxes again cause I mean who would buy a nissan unless its practical. /sarcasm get your head out of your ass please

all you crybaby fanbois who dont like the front end need to understand that the concept was about as aerodynamic as a brick and needed work to "compete" performance wise.
its still nowhere near as aerodynamic as a vette but they had an inferior starting point so what do you expect

I agree with the comments on the interior. It reminds me of a pontiac. The seats look like they could use more thigh bolstering for track days as well. I like the exterior OK, but the rear end looks fat, not bad, just fat like the rear of a Mustang. It just doesnt look at tight and athletic as other japanese sports cars (300zx,350z,supra,rx7,rx8,nsx,2nd gen mr2). I think the r32, 33, 34 were better looking. At least speed will not be a shortcoming.

Steering wheel is on the wrong side and if the airbag goes off I have a feeling someone is getting a backward GT-R tatoo :)

Looks so bland. I almost fall asleep looking at it.

I think it looks great. The exterior has sharp angles and a stance that screams performance. There has never been a GTR to date with tons of curves. This sharp edged design has carried through the years. The interior of this car isn't meant to be luxurious and over the top stylish, it is meant to be performance inspired functional. With that little screen in the middle of the dash, numerous calculations and processes will be carried out by the car's computer in order to make it one of the most technologically advanced automobiles to drive. There are a lot of people on this board who are bashing this car and have limited intelligence and aptitude for understanding and comprehending such things. This car is not only a hardcore supercar, but also an advanced technological marvel of an automobile. With those two things present, no car can compare for the price, no car!
Great job Nissan, great job.

To all of the whiny haters and complainers.
Keep in mind that this is just the base line GT-R, not a totally decked out or "EVO'ed up" model. Remember this is sort of like the 08 Mitsubishi Lancer that was available to the public before the EVO.
There will be other flavors and trims later as the months go by such as transmission options, sportier front end trims, including fog lights..etc.
Personally I think this is a good start for the GT-R. WHen I look at this GT-R it gives me the same feeling of when I saw the Nissan 300ZX for the very first time in the mid 80's after growing up and living in an area that was saturated with god awful boxy american square boatmobiles.
Once the other trims of the GT-R come out then I will finally be able to replace my 99 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. Up until this date I have not found a worthy car replacement that has the same excitement, feel, passion, and thrill when driving as I do in my 3000GT.
