eBay Find of the Day: Charity auction for Dodge Challenger #2
Posted Sep 27th 2007 4:54PM by Jonathon Ramsey
Filed under: Auction Action, Etc., Dodge

The second Dodge Challenger to roll off the assembly line is currently being auctioned on eBay, but only to Dodge dealers. (The first Dodge Challenger produced will be auctioned in January 2008 by Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale.)
The winning dealer bidder will get the orange-and-black-pinstriped Challenger SRT-8 with the 6.1-liter HEMI and 5-speed Autostick transmission. The winner also gets VIP passes to the Dodge Challenger 500 NASCAR race at Darlington next May, with first class airfare and lodging, plus a meet-and-greet with Kyle Petty.
Oh yeah, if you win, you have let Dodge take your picture with the vehicle and use it any way they want. Bidding is at $75,000, and all proceeds will go to United Way of Southeastern Michigan.
Thanks for the tip, C.!

If I won that car I'd sell it in the UK for some huge dollars.
It would be a grey market car yes, but an awesome one at that.

In my opinion ( I know, opinions are like assholes, everybody has one) that's a pretty sharp looking car, smooth lines, no garbage just plane old good looking automobile but, OH MY! under the hood, PURE UNADULTERATED DODGE POWER to match just about anything you'd come up against on the NORMAL highway or legal drag strip! It IS going to be interesting when the production model becomes available to the general public!

You forgot the "and they all stink" part.
This car is sweet, though. I hope I can afford one.

Nick; thanks for the come back! you're right, it is a sweet loking piece of equipment and I'd like to have one also! I'm 77 yrs young but maybe one of my 7 kids will buy one and let me feel the surge of the DODGE power!

I stopped by my local mega-dealer on Sunday and noticed a 2007 Plum Crazy Charger Datona with several orange tags in the window. It was marked down to $34K from near $40K. I was born in '62, so I only vaguely remember the first musclecars in the showrooms as my family shopped for mundane 4-doors. I just hope these new 'Impact' mopars don't follow the same path - expensive gas, high insurance, silly colors and decals that seem suddenly too much. It all sounds familiar. The same dealer had two 2006 GTOs still languising on their lot in August - will prices marked down over $7K. I really hope the Challenger doesn't show up too late. Let's remember the first gen Challengers were never big sellers, and were considered downright dogs from '72-'74.

no clutch no thanks. Otherwise a kick ass car tho.

Yeah, I've been really thinking of trading in the Mustang for one but I think my Mustang would be lighter and faster than that's gonna be. Very sharp looking though.

I agree with Justin... no clutch, no thanks,
but a real transmission in that machine... and i'm sold
eliot mcd @ Sep 28th 2007 10:23AM
the mustang is lighter, yes, but unless u have a gt500(dodge will have an answer to this later), then the challenger will kill it, a mustang gt has 300hp, not enough, might keep up from 0-60 but after that its over

I don't know why, but I can't see this car as being good looking. It looks way too old fashioned. I don't think dodge did as good of a job with modernizing retro styling with this car as ford did with the mustang. The mustang looks right for the times. This one just... doesn't...
howard @ Sep 29th 2007 12:17PM
Mike Botros; You young people seem to forget, OLD IS GOOD, OLD CARS, OLD AIRPLANES, OLD WOMEN AND IN THAT ORDER! And don't forget, "we've been there and done that" no matter what it is!

The styling of this car still amazes me every time I see a picture of it. I can only imagine what its going to look like when people customize it with lowering springs, tubbed and with 355's in the back :)
