Spy shots: Facelifted BMW 3-series
Now that all of its siblings have been introduced over the past two years, the plain Jane BMW 3-Series sedan has slipped off for a nip/tuck rejuvenation session. Not much will change, but the car is expected to get new headlights with more prominent "angel eyes," a higher hood, LED tail lights, and a revised interior. It will also get a wider grill, a feature from the CS Coupe that's been finding its way on BMW concepts and redesigns.
Under that higher hood will be a new selection of engines that won't include BMW's start/stop technology just yet, but should up the stakes in the frugality department in terms of gas and CO2. Expect a variable twin turbo 204 bhp 4-cylinder diesel that puts out 138g of CO2 per km.

While the high tech diesel would be great, there is no getting around the fact that this is still the ugliest looking 3 series ever.

I agree. The coupe is better looking but then it would have to be. My E46 looks better everyday.

the main exterior change appears to be the removal of the taillight extensions into the trunk lid, thus avoiding that slanting angle that made them so Korean looking. Following in the footsteps of Subaru, there was no character remaining after the ugly was removed. I'm not sure which is better.
"a revised interior" that's what pricked my ears. This car is in disparate need of an IP makeover. It will require far more revision than what was done on the outside, though.

Hmmm, Kind of a peculiar shape under there. There may be some character in there afterall. It has the potential to be just as ugly too. I guess we will see soon enough. I'm still more curious about the inside.

They're called "headlamp Corona Rings" according to BMW.
"Angel/Demon Eyes" are what the after market tuners call their copy cat product because they are not allowed to use BMW's term, unless they like lawyers messing up their sales revenue.

the kidney grill is still bisected -- ie, the top line of the kidney grill is still part of the hood and detached from the rest of the grill. this is bad appearance, bad karma, bad feng shui, just bad.

If you want to disappear into the masses, here in Miami? buy a BMW, at any given intersection there are usually six of them. yuk, eeeewwww, boring, oversold, common, NOT beautiful-especially the SEVEN!, over priced!
