When the wraps are finally taken off the new Nissan GT-R in Tokyo next month there'll be little left to reveal, save a few minor exterior elements and a production-ready interior. And as the date draws closer, every piece of banal minutia that hits the web piques our interest and completes the GT-R puzzle.
The newest round of unconfirmed, yet plausible information comes courtesy of the GTChannel, where they've reported a number of facts that we've listed in all their bullet-point glory after the jump.
• The chassis designation will be CBA-R35, the last bit continuing the long-held R-number moniker of previous generations
• Three trim levels: Base, Black Edition and Premium – all equipped with the same VR38DETT twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6
• Everything fit within the engine will be forged
• Six exterior colors: Titanium Gray, Dark Metal Blue, Super Black, Vibrant Red, Ultimate Metal Silver and White Pearl, the last two are classified as premium paints and will command a few extra bucks.
• Two interior colors: Black or Gray, with black appropriately being the only color available on the "Black Edition"
• Rays forged wheels (likely sized 18-inches), coated in chrome and wrapped in Dunlop Sports tires. An upgraded tire and wheel package with gunmetal Rays wheels will be available on the base model, and standard on Black and Premium vehicles.
• Anti-theft and Bose sound will be an option on the base and Black versions, while standard in Premium trim.
• SRS curtain and side airbags will be an option on all three models
As for dimensions, it's been pretty much confirmed that the GT-R will be 4,650mm long (183-inches), with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm (110-inches) and a width of 1,920mm (75.6-inches). Power is still expected to be in the 450 to 550 HP arena, with a curb weight somewhere in the neighborhood of 3,500 lbs.
We'll be on hand when the veil is lifted in Tokyo at the end of next month, and we'll finally be able to see what five years of development has finally wrought.

"SRS curtain and side airbags will be an option on all three models"
not standard, you gotta be kidding me!

They already published that the unladen weight of the GT-R is 1750kg (3860lbs) ...

best would be stoping that speculation and wait till officle factory claims are avaible... in GT-R fanboy forums the new GT-R already reached 7:35min Nürburgring laptimes driven by German car journalist Horst von Saurma (sportauto) ... sorry that isn´t funny anymore

I think the width is way off. Why would the GT-R be nearly 20 inches NARROWER than the G35/G37 Coupe? Doesn't make any sense.
nagmashot @ Sep 25th 2007 12:44PM
what the Autoblog author called wide is the high...
the wide ia 1920mm / 75.6inch
nagmashot @ Sep 25th 2007 12:45PM
sorry wide = width..my englich sucks :(

Thanks! It's been corrected.

I am glad that the weight was kept below the rumored 1800kg. If these numbers hold true, then it will be everything most people want it to be. If it does turn out to be closer to 4000 lbs, then I think it will be the same story as the GT500, a hell of a lot of fun to drive, but with untapped potential due to too much weight.

freckles, i know you don't remember, but there was time car enthusiasts wanted a car as light as possible. not everyone wants side airbags, ac, sunroof. this allows for those things to be deleted.

Man this thing is a porker. No balls-out sports car should ever be this portly. At 3100+ lbs. the Z06 will dance circles around this pig. Heard that the ZR-1 will be even lighter.
Sachin @ Sep 25th 2007 12:51PM
According to these specs it will weigh around 3500lbs, not 3800lbs. Which means the suspected EVO or Premium model will weigh around 3200-3300 which is inline with the 997 turbo/Viper.

And seat two less people... and not have AWD...
I just dont understand the eventual Corvette comparisons. The GT-R is an AWD, 2+2 car with a posh interior and lots of gadgets. The Corvette is a RWD, 2 seater with a not so great interior and tons of power. How can you compare the two?
Now the M3, RS5, and the 911 all make much better sense as competitors to the GT-R than the Vette.
nagmashot @ Sep 25th 2007 1:00PM
@ Sachni
dream your dream... the R34 GT-R weight was 3680lbs and this one with more luxury and larger size will have a unladen weight of 3860lbs in the basic version.
Mr. Oak @ Sep 25th 2007 1:21PM
@ RG: Run all you want, there is no avoiding the "vette. The basic objective of all cars in this category is performance. 0 - 60, 1/4 miles, cornering and braking and ultimately lap times.
You people can't stand it that the Z06 punks almost all comers in what matters most to these cars, performance.
....and in most cases it does so for a fraction of the cost, and is much more reliable than any if not all of them.
So, now you go and try to make it a beauty contest. Shameless and spineless I tell ya :)

@Mr. Oak
Jesus, you sound like Randy Savage. Why don't just marry a ZR-1?
N_V_D @ Sep 25th 2007 1:06PM
As I've argued on a Nissan forum, the thing did the 'Ring in 7.38 vs. the Porsche Turbo's 7.4 and word is it wasn't the top of the line edition. I no longer care how much the car weighs if it's faster than a Porsche Turbo around the 'Ring. I'll take mine in Dark Metal Blue thank you.
Justin @ Sep 25th 2007 1:35PM
This is a very cool, but if I want a heavier high powered 2+2 i'll just get a GT500. The interior might not be quite as cool, but the blower whine more than makes up for it for me :)
jg @ Sep 25th 2007 1:36PM
Oak-boy seems pissed that people don't agree that the only thing that matters about sportscars are the only things the 'vette does well. Its too bad some people also want comfort. The fact that the 'vette can do it for a fraction of the price isn't so impressive if you're objective about the issue. You can also say that the reason why the 'vette is cheaper than other super cars is that no one will pay as much for a Chevy as they will for a Porsche or Ferrari no matter how fast it is. Not that you're point of view is wrong, just wanted to point out that there are others and not all are based on bias.
Mr. Oak @ Sep 25th 2007 1:42PM
Not hardly mad, just funny as hell to watch you folks get really petty and try to dis' one of the best all round sports cars ever made, regardless of cost.
Realist @ Sep 25th 2007 2:07PM
You guys honestly don't really believe that people interested in the GT-R would even consider a Corvette, do you? GT-R is all about technology while the Corvette is..well...a GM product.
The GT-R would be attractive to people who cannot afford the top-of-the-line Porsche (whose buyers btw would never consider a Corvette either).
jg @ Sep 25th 2007 2:24PM
if its half as funny as watching you pretend that whatever the 'vette does well is all that needs to be done you must be having a pretty good time. Think about your argument. You are ignoring everything else people want in a car in order to pretend the 'vette is the pinnacle of the automotive world. GM strategy; build a car that does one thing well, pretend that's all that matters, hire a washed up loser to sing a song that appeals to people's patriotism. Ferrai's a better car, Porche is a better car, teh GT-R is a better car but this is our country.
